I'm sure this must have been reported here already -- and feel free to delete this post if so -- but I couldn't find it under search! In any case, it appears that Glenn Cornick, founding member and bassist of Jethro Tull, has passed away at the age of 67. He was a wonderfully inventive bass player, and a great guy.

    Damn. RIP Glenn.

  6. Sad news. With Stand Up and Benefit he played on 2 of my favourite Jethro Tull albums.

What a shame. Respect is due and my thoughts go out to his family and friends.

RIP Glenn. An underrated bass player for sure. I love his work with Wild Turkey as well.

Bleh, terrible news. He was one of my favorites. Great tone and inventive work with Tull, Wild Turkey, and the Bob Welch led band, Paris.

Stupidly, I am the kind that always holds out hope that if an original or classic line-up are all still alive, there is hope for a reunion or, at least, a one-off performance. Not the case anymore with his passing for Tull (never mind it's not realistic in any sense of the word).

Sorry to read this. I'm glad he was still around to give his perspectives on early Tull in the recent Benefit reissue.

Incidentally, I've been listening to Tull the whole day. Just put on Stand up for Glenn - one of my biggest Tull favourites, always loved his bass playing.

Very sad, way too soon. He was very important to the early sound, and seemed like a lovely fellow. RIP.

I forgot all about Paris. I need to dig that one up and give it a spin. I think they had two albums? A friend actually gave them to me years ago and I've never played them!

I agree with you though; a Tull reunion with Cornick, Clive Bunker and either Abrahams or Barre would have been a dream come true. I know many (most?) Tull fans prefer Barlowe/Hammond, but for me, Cornick and Bunker were the best rhythm section Tull ever had.

Yes, Paris had "s/t" and "Big Towne 2061."

If memory serves, wasn't there a brief reunion of the original 4 on the "25th Anniversary" DVD?

That's a shame. Such a great man and player. JT remain one of my favorite bands and this hits home.

I agree. Much more of a jazzy/bluesy groove with Bunker and Cornick. Hammond and Barlow played more complex arrangements, but Cornick and Bunker added an earthy, cool vibe to Tull's early sound.
