I love everything in this album. It's magnificent. It's magic! A great journey. No other album has offered me such depth in my soul as Ummagumma.

What's your opinion on the album? What's the trippiest Pink FLoyd album for you?

One of their weakest and most forgettable albums. With that being said, I still like it, the live sides.

I like the live album, but the studio album is one of my least favorite PF recordings.

Had this album back in the 70's and although I loved the live set, the studio stuff was (mostly) a test of endurance. Maybe I should give it another try sometime though. Atom Heart Mother is where it's at for me, as regards early Floyd.

come on, man. all opinions are subjective. I don't happen to agree with the OP either, but your post comes across as quite snarky.

The live album is nice. The studio disc only has a few nice songs. And I prefer live versions of those studio tracks (Grantchester Meadows, Narrow Way) from the Early Years box.

Whatever gets you through the day, the live sides are okay but "Several Species" C'mon Waters was kidding, right...

To each his own, I suppose.

I've tried and tried, but can't get an ounce of enjoyment out of that record.

Certainly not my favourite Pink Floyd album. It has some moments I like, "Grantchester Meadow" is a beautiful song but the rest of the studio album I find dificult to get through.

The live part is a nice bonus though.

I don't wanna be the guy that says "this has been discussed in many threads before", but...
    I guess I've just been the guy, haven't I?
    Anyway, an excellent album.

Probably the only Pink Floyd album I donĀ“t enjoy. Live album is nice though.

Clearly not enough altered-state listening has been utilised here. :)

They were better live than in the studio at this point. Should have just released a live album.

Grandchester Meadow and The Narrow Way are the only things I really go back to other than the live cuts.

More, released right around the same time, is one of my favorites. So they still had it in them right around then. The mistake was allowing that much space for solo stuff and dividing it more equally than their compositional talent was divided.

I'm not a huge fan of it, to be honest. Many would probably argue the greatest Floyd journey/trip was with Syd on board, especially Piper At The Gates Of Dawn.

Fun album. They are searching for gold in all directions. It would eventually lead them on a trip to the moon.

Exactly, and it's a fine album because of it. Without the studio experiments, we wouldn't have got what happened later. I much prefer the live material here, than on anything from The Man The Journey, so along with More, I'd say Pink Floyd had a pretty great 1969.

On the right drugs it is likely a masterpiece. Sober, only the live album counts.

You don't need drugs, just a sense of adventure and imagination.

Grantchester and Narrow are enjoyable, but the other studio stuff is forgettable. Love the live stuff (though I prefer Live At Pompeii). For me, about on par with Atom Heart Mother for my least favorite Floyd albums (not including anything after Animals, cuz I don't like anything they did after Animals- personal preference!).

The live disc is good. I can't get along with the studio one.

I like Atom Heart Mother best of all Floyd albums, and I may be in a minority there
