Right now I am listening to QOTSA - Villains. Great album except one song, Head Like A Haunted House. Great title, it's cool for a minute but quickly wears out it's welcome. Also listened to Dead Heavens, Salem's Pot is next. Black Metal is cool too sometimes, but it has to be hipster black metal like Agalloch!
JT were one of the hardest rockin bands ever, put them up there with zep they both ploughed similar pastures. the flute gave them texture like traffic, the moodies and genesis. on that live broadcast they were touring heavy horses their last great lp of the classic era which featured some blistering guitar by mr barre. of all the players that were involved martin is ians soul brother and its sad that he is not involved anymore. dude the brick rocks and is my favorite JT lp and is enhanced with paired with the afghani
I love Tull up to and including Heavy Horses. After that, something happened to the quality, IMHO. Barre was great. And Thick as a Brick is my favorite too, along with Benefit (their most Zep-like album) and Minstrel in the Gallery.
Since my last update: Flamin' Groovies Teenage Head and Sneakers King Crimson Larks' Tongues in Aspic Julian Cope Jehovahkill
stormwatch has the sound but not quite the consistency though dun ringill is worth the price of admission, dark ages and flying dutchman make it a three out of five stars. benefit is a monster, the only ones that i am not fond of are under wraps and TOTRR. roots to branches even has some magic
I never liked it, and I really tried. In fact, I sold my Japanese HQCD last week. I've kept my Rhino, just in case.
I kinda like it a little better each time I play it. But that is like once a year for the last twenty or so. Not his best work by a long shot, but "Couldn't I Just Tell You" is for me his best song of all time.
For the next two hours I'm gonna pretend I'm not wasting my life away at work and that I'm listening to the BBC 14-10 years before my birth.
