Duane with Barry Goldberg and Otis Rush, Duck and the Bear, Boz Scaggs cutting some blues in the studio... disc three.
My favorite Cale album (although, admittedly I've only heard 4 or 5 of them). Utterly fantastic. This may seem blasphemous, but I like this "Ship of Fools" even more than the Hunter/Garcia one.
It was later than I thought when I first believed you, Now I cannot share your laughter, ship of fools. But it is a great track, and my fave (I think) as well.
Sneaky good. The Wolf moved to a new sound. Some mandolins and fiddles mixed in there. Blues/Americana, I guess you'd call it.
Let's just agree that both are great and both are better than The Doors "Ship of Fools" - which I also enjoy, but isn't on the level of the Cale or Hunter/Garcia ones.
Maybe move them to the garage or basement and set-up a killer system there? A least send 'em on to a good home. Vintage speakers can still kick the crap out of the all-in-one box crap most folks use these days. Actually - who am I kidding. Most folks listen to music exclusively on either their smartphone, earbuds, or Alexa/Googul/Seeheri-robot speaker these days. Which is fine, I guess - as long as they keep listening.
Geez man I forgot that Doors tune. I just happen to have the AP SACD at hand, have to give it a spin. But yes, agreed. (In between sets from Boston winter '73) The thing about the Hunter/Garcia is that it always makes me pensive. And I like that.
Hola amigos, wash uffizi drive me to Firenze? I like the hyper 80s sound on this, complete with almost Flock Of Seagulls haircut. And yet, through it all, he still manages to see a Deadhead sticker on a Cadillac. Was it the Cadillac from "Cassidy"? We may never know.
At some point, I decided to embrace 80s production values, but I can't say I ever hated them. I actually like the gated drum sound. (And I was a closet Phil Collins fan.) Not that I want to hear that sound outside of 80s albums. For me, the 80s were a very happy time. I didn't know how good I had it!
My favorite Elvin joint. The trio format allows plenty of space for each instrument to occupy copious somic real estate. Killer LP, musically and somically.
Rosenberg Trio - Caravan. With Stephane Grapelli and Jan Akkerman. Grown up music that swings like crazy.
that 'sound' is too much for me but Boys of Summer is a badass song. this along with The End of Innocence and The Last Resort, Don's got his name tied to some heavy lyrics.
Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers Live 1999 Rockpalast. Excellent show. Listening to a little @notesofachord er... I mean Larry Young. Larry Young - Unity (Music Matters 45)
Trio concert from the Agusti Fernandez box The great pianist with Barry Guy on double bass & Ramon Lopez on drums - as much as I’ve listened to Guy over the years it’s recordings like this that highlight his more melodic side that remind me that to my ears, he’s the best I’ve ever heard on the instrument.
Although I know the some of the songs quite well, I've never actually played this one all the way through. Until tonight that is... The Band - Northern Lights - Southern Cross MFSL sacd
A Coltrane Impulse compilation CD set, the disc that begins with "Greensleeves." Wishing I had a itty bitty tube amp to feed my speakers.
