Gene Parsons - Kindling. One of the nicest guys and most underrated of all the latter day Byrds, IMO. Made a good pairing with Clarence White.
bzfgt - I thought I knew some obscure music, but I have to admit that I haven't heard of about 2/3 of what you post on this thread, heh.
In these internet days it's a whole other world...there's a lot of stuff I'd have never heard of if it were still 1988... Like this, which is blowing my brains out tonight:
I listened to Weather Report last night and while I am a huge fan up through Heavy Weather but especially, the '72-75 period, I'm having a hard time with Mr Gone. I will keep trying though, the catalog preceding this only gets better. I do like the 8:30 live a lot. NP:... Ralph Towner does a good job, especially on piano; interesting project for Bill Bruford and glad he has involved himself in the jazz circles. Gomez is always solid on everything I've heard him on.
Hawkwind Church of Hawkwind I also just listened to Xenon Codex and Hall of the Mountain Grill, I can't remember if I already listed those recently though.
What I consider to be one of the best of any Allman Brother solo offshoots. It is a very well thought out record with a stellar cast and Bett's guitar playing never sounded better.
Some good songs, and some bad ones. Don't think I'll return to the record but I'm putting a few songs on a playlist
Indeed. I listened to it at work today and yesterday. Merle had stories. He was criminal who did time at San Quentin. His family fled the dust bowl. He had a great voice, a knack for good melodies and played the guitar like a pro
