A friend made me aware of this podcast a couple of days ago. I've been listening almost nonstop at work ever since. Something About The Beatles -
I have Halcyon Digest and Microcastle. Deerhunter was never huge in my life but both these records were really good. I'm gonna dig them out today.
It is the one that has eluded me. An import release back in the days when I visited the shops more than I do now, it is the one that I hear is the best of his early solo releases... one day soon maybe. NP... a handful of the Ronnies n' Ry. Little Village is a cool record that has Ry Cooder, John Hiatt, Nick Lowe and Jim Keltner. A treasured work that gets shinier with time. The two Ry records are my favorites.
You guys are killing it with some old favorites, and that includes the Phil Manz and 801 @Rne. The 801 Live release is a testament to one of the great, perfect live prog albums ever, short and sweet. The Somber Reptiles treatment reduces me to drizzled mush. lol I've got all of the imports that were released in 2001 incl Quiet Sun. Always good to see Brand X and The English Beat get kudos... love the ska and still play it, which makes me miss my subwoofer very much.
they were re released as vinyl replicas about ten years ago got em on amazonuk nice sounding looks like discogs has some copies. The last time i saw mr allen almost twenty years back he was sitting at the bar pre show. I sat next to him but had nothing to sign somehow got a piece of paper and he drew a little doodle for me, wish i knew where it was!
Tom Petty week over here . Oktober 3 to 20(birthday) is kinda like the days between. Followed by live from the Record Plant 1977
After the first 3 tracks on Let's Dance, I'd be hard-pressed to say positive things about anything until Heathen and Reality. However, I'd be open to reconsidering an album in that stretch since there are 8 of them.
Lets Dance didnt do anything for me it was a popular comeback and a fun show. Some singles were ok but not so much magic. I like the first tin machine record, have outside, heathen and the last two which are great. Think a lot of artists struggle after thirty five plus DB covered so much ground!
I really like Let's Dance, even though the second side it's a step below. Tonight is nice, but again, a step below. I'm not familiar enough with his 90's albums, even though I have a couple of them. Reality is another good album, I agree. Now, Blackstar is in my opinion classic Bowie at his best.
