Definitely waiting for word on the video component of this. If there's the music videos/Imagine/Gimme Some Truth films all included, I'm in. 5.1 remix or quad mix? I'm in. other than that, *snore*
So any insight into what Tony Bramwell meant when he described it as a "song and dance" version "Just remixed and fiddled about with" ? Is it another straight remix, or something more?
Between the 2000 remix and 2010 remaster, I feel we’re quite well covered as far as the original album goes. So very curious to see what this new remix is all about, other than perhaps 5.1 surround version. Similar thoughts about the bonus audio as well - what’s left that wasn’t covered on Anthology? Maybe Yoko will surprise us! The book looks good, 320 pages of Imagine, hopefully lots of unseen photos and new interviews with involved musicians. Hoping they add Bluray version of the sessions to the package - the Gimme Some Truth DVD could definitely use a HD upgrade.
Some people apparently love to announce that they won't be purchasing something, or think others care, or something...
The Hardcover book is $50 (preorder): https://www.amazon.com/Imagine-John...55581&sr=8-2&keywords=lennon+ono+imagine+book
This statement is absurd (it actually says "creative collaboration", but absurd nevertheless). It undermines any credibility this book might have.
Hoping for nice bonus stuff. Otherwise, think I'll stick to the White Album box set this year. Should save money for it anyway.
So unless there is some option for a SUPER-DUPER edition with the book, the Remix CD, and some other bonus audio and/or DVD, I'm not sure that this will be overly expensive, especially if the Remix CD is sold separately as a single CD.
In fairness to Ono, “Imagine” sounds a lot like her work. I can’t remember them, but “imagine [x] then [y]” is one of her core concepts that is used in many of her poems. I’m not interested in a remix. Definitely interested in any outtakes or video including George Harrison or Phil Spector.
Yes, I think it's pretty well established at this point that Yoko Ono invented the concept of imagining things. At this point, it seems pretty easy, if you try. But when she was doing it, no one else had yet conceived of imagining anything.
I think John gave her too much credit out of love. She had a poem with "Imagine this, imagine that", but not the concpet in the song (imagine something to make it happen). However, didn't John write this song in 1963? The whole concept is there, just applied to a love song: I'LL GET YOU Oh yeah, oh yeah, oh yeah, oh yeah Imagine I'm in love with you It's easy 'cause I know I've imagined I'm in love with you Many, many, many times before It's not like me to pretend But I'll get you, I'll get you in the end Yes I will, I'll get you in the end Oh yeah, oh yeah I think about you night and day I need you and it's true When I think about you I can say I'm never, never, never, never blue So I'm telling you my friend That I'll get you, I'll get you in the end Yes I will, I'll get you in the end Oh yeah, oh yeah Well, there's gonna be a time When I'm gonna change your mind So you might as well resign yourself to me, oh yeah Imagine I'm in love with you It's easy 'cause I know I've imagined I'm in love with you Many, many, many times before It's not like me to pretend But I'll get you, I'll get you in the end Yes I will, I'll get you in the end Oh yeah, oh yeah, oh yeah, oh yeah, whoa yeah
I wonder what happened to the restored One to One concerts project? I think Jack Douglas had mentioned working on it (new mix, new film transfer) back in 2014 for new DVD/Bluray release.
I see some slight similarity in the first two lines. Imagine I'm in love with you It's easy 'cause I know Imagine there's no heaven It's easy if you try
