Not as strong as the 1983 poll, but still some goodies in this chart from (nearly) 32 years ago.

Vote for as many as you want.

Pop music was alive and a thriving industry in 1985.

I thought I would pick more, but only Aretha, Tears For Fears and Power Station made it for me. The mid eighties were not my favorite period for music.

I'm surprised that I only like two - Tina Turner and Prince. The rest have aged poorly.

"A View To A Kill" was on heavy rotation on my turntable, during that last glorious summer of my childhood (transitioning to adolescence, soon after).

I love Depeche Mode, and it's weird for me not to select them in a poll, but People Are People always has me hitting the skip button. I'd rather listen to any of my other selections. The band don't even like it.

I picked eleven of 'em! 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, 9, 16, 19, 20, 21 + 24, with the song of the summer definitely being The Power Of Love. For me, Back To The Future was easily the movie of the summer (with The Goonies the runner-up - hey, I was 14 at the time!), so yeah the main theme dominated that summer. That said, I loved all the singles from Around The World In A Day (Prince), and the Born In The USA album was still going strong. Ah, 1985.. what a great summer for music! :agree:

Voted for 15 out of the 25, so a strong selection of songs. Only got one single, a 12" of Dead Or Alive, but a large percentage of the LPs.

The top three encapsulates that era extremely well. Surprised there isn't more love for Whitney's debut, from a great album.

Wasn't a fan of Kool & The Gang, but Cherish has aged gracefully.

The Bruce and Bryan singles, came from albums that sold rather well!

I don't mind "Raspberry Beret" and "Shout", but aside from that, not much for me there. That was about the time that I turned off modern music at the ripe old age of 24, and started going backwards -- when I think of 1985, I think of Rockabilly and 50's R'n'B, which I was just discovering at the time. In my world at that time, Bryan Adams, John Parr, and Paul Young couldn't compete with Bo Diddley, Gene Vincent. and Carl Perkins!

"Summer of '69" is only getting 35% of the vote? What kind of Bizzaro world have I landed on?

I voted for "Every Time You Go Away", because it ends one of my favorite movies,"Planes, Trains and Automobiles". Miss ya, John Candy. :(

Was this the sole week in 1985 that the charts got a break from Madonna?

Still enjoy 13 of those. Not quite as good as the 84 chart, but some gems on there for sure:
Summer of 69, St. Elmo's Fire, Power of Love, Glory Days, and Sentimental Street just to name a few.

The 12"-ers for If You Love Somebody Set Them Free, Power of Love and Raspberry Berret----rocked my world----still have them in surprisingly decent shape considering I was 13 when I got them.

She'd fallen off the charts the previous week with Angel.

But she'd be back a month later with Dress You Up.:)

Not much here that's exceptional. I chose Shout and Summer of '69.

Easy-Benatar's "Invincible". Stunning theme from a terrific film (The Legend of Billie Jean)
