Nice set. I'll definitely get it. But it's a shame we aren't getting a 96/24 PCM track on the Blu-Ray. Also, I wish they had included a live disc from 1970. I believe there's a high qualify recording of a Fillmore West performance circulating from that year.

I love listening to the artistic process at work. I'll be getting the 4-CD/1-BD version.

One slight shame..is they didn't include a DVD of the Fillmore footage from 1970. Perhaps given how difficult the licencing issue have been on this album for years (in terms of getting it remastered), they didn't want to push the boat out with another set of legal wrangles on that. Never mind. Happy to hear will get a new digital 'poke' at last.

I don't know who 'owns' the 1971 Pacific High Studios concert, but its on Wolfgang's Vault. That's essential for any Van fanatic (anyone with two ears). It's beyond baffling how some music never gets released, or leaks out... in this case, given the expansiveness of the re-release, it'd make a lot of sense to include this.

$75, really? I love Van Morrison and have all of his LPs and CDs. But I'm not smoking the weed for the alt takes. $25 or less. Not even sure it's worth $20. I'll sit around for a couple of years and keep my eyes open for this to hit the used market. (I probably already have 3 or 4 extra copies of Moondance)

OK, I'm in. I have the CD and Steve and Kevin's LP. Maybe the remaster will be OK, but I am really excited about Elliot Scheiner's 5.1 mix. Do we know for sure it is Elliot's version?

    No, we don't.

Hope all the rest of you grab our LP before it's out of print. It's cut with the true stereo masters..

I will probably get this, if only for the 5.1 mix. I have the LP Steve cut and it's just awesome.

Perhaps that will be on a future deluxe reissue of His Band and the Street Choir or Tupelo Honey. The chronological fit is better.

No, sad to say. We made a digital master just in case but I doubt WB ever will use it for anything.

The LP is absolutely fabulous. I've never heard "Caravan" sound better. I own over 5,000 LPs. This is one of the last with which I'd part.

I've owned it since the first day of release and it's a terrific sounding record. Highly recommended.

Out of curiosity, was the DVD-Audio disc planned years ago going to a hi-rez stereo and surround disc or just surround? I'm wondering if the hi-rez stereo mastering is new.

Even on my nothing Sony turntable, Steve's LP sounds great.

Steve's vinyl is truly remarkable, but that Blu-ray is awfully tempting.
Too bad you've got to buy 4 other discs to get it. Maybe they can call it the padded version.

Strange that there's none of the acoustic demos as featured on The Genuine Philosophers Stone 2 - unless they are some of the alternate takes listed. I would also love to hear a live disc from this era!

  25. Funny that one of Van's albums will be available in a deluxe edition with dozens of alternate takes, while most of his other albums will remain out of print. This is one of the few albums where Van is not in total control of the master tapes and it's also not coincidentally one of the few Van Morrison album that have remained in print.
I usually support artistic control, but Van Morrison is one exception
