very strange you are saying this , I was the same age when I first heard it and was fascinated by this cover , for some (very strange) reason I associated it with the sound of approaching trucks at the time (must have heard it somewhere deep inside the mix while listening to the record and looking at the cover at the same time) - quite fascinating that I remember this 45 years later
Now that the legislation is in place...isn't about time for the gatefolds to come already pre-loaded with the substance they're best used for...? Could invigorate the Colorado record production business, y'know...; those Grateful Dead albums aren't gonna listen to themselves...!
13 as well what an onslaught of albums just as one was first appreciating and exposed to music with a true lack of boundaries back then I wanted to explore the mysteries of this world tempt being swept downward - off the majestic and fragile planet spiritual quest, with not a care in the world of the survival aspects
Was 16 when this came out and I too wanted to enter the world within the gatefold. In fact, everything about this album brings fond memories. The artwork, the perfect green of the cover (which always made me think of the world coming to life in the spring), and of course the absolute masterpiece of the record itself.
I agree, The older I get, the more grateful I am to have been born in 1959. Too young for Vietnam, but just old enough to take part in all the good music. Two other albums I had during this time were ELP Trilogy, and Uriah Heep Demons and Wizards. Those 3 records really stirred my imagination. I was totally captivated by the cover art and the music. I would give up everything I have to feel that magic again.
Awesome album. I own a Candy Apple Red Stratocaster, in part because of this, and the front cover pic.
this reminds me of friends that claimed to see a concrete pig when the cover of Floyd's Animals was turned upside down. They were trippin' at the time mind ( sorry cant upturn image no doubt one of you forum genius can)
I'm presuming we've already had this but at 44 pages long I'm not going to check... Double fold gatefold. The Beastie Boys Paul's Boutique. Click For Full-Size Image.
This is maybe a case where the gatefold sleeve is not really justified Jesse Winchester - Jesse Winchester On the first LP by Jesse Winchester the same picture of J W was used on the front and the back of the sleeve and on the gatefold. But it is kind of funny!
