The Blue Album. But I love Pinkerton as well and I have great memories associated with both.

My third favorite Weezer album is Weezer (White) from last year. Absolutely fantastic summery pop/rock album. It was easily my most played album of 2016 and I know it will get lots of play this summer as well.

I only have the blue one & the green one.

They've put out some poor stuff in the last few years. That Beverly hills song was terrible.

If I had to rate Weezer albums:
    1. Blue
    2. Everything will be alright in the end
    3. Pinkerton
    4. Green
    5. Maladroit
The rest is so-so, great tunes mixed with too many fillers and clunkers.

Weezer's blue album, no matter how highly rated, is one of the most underrated albums of all times. I say this because I consider it to be one of the best records made by anyone, ever...and it is not generally held in such high esteem. It's an album of 10 #1-hit caliber songs, all clearly distinct from one another but held together by the excellent production. The album has some of the best songs and guitar tones on any album I have.

Pinkerton is an excellent album with that awesome 90's Flaming Lips and Nirvana (In Utero) drum sound, but it's less distinctive than Blue and fell prey to the mid-90's trend for bands to try and sound more angsty to appeal to the grunge fan masses.

So...of course Blue is better than Pinkerton. It's also better than virtually every other release by anybody ever.

Strangely enough I've never listened to the album, though I remember the song "Friends of P." and enjoying it. I'll have to remedy that, so thanks for the suggestion.

You perfectly summarized my view of the album. Unfortunately power-pop music is not taken seriously at all in some circles for its relative superficiality. But the craft it takes to write a catchy song is terribly underrated. Stuff like No One Else or Say It Ain't So or Buddy Holly isn't written and put on tape by the Holy Spirit's actions.

I like them both but if I had to pick one, it would be Pinkerton.

And the beauty is that you could have picked virtually any 3 songs at random from the album to make your point...like, say, My Name Is Jonas, In the Garage and Undone. The songs are just perfect.

    Tough decision.
Pinkerton has El Scorcho (my favoutite Weezer song) but then followed by Pink Triangle, the weakest track of the two albums.
Blue is all killer so evens out, but Say it Ain't So and Undone - The Sweater Song elevate it past Pinkerton.

Voted for Pinkerton. Never understood the rabid fanbase this band has. I'll put on their stuff once in a blue moon and enjoy it, but they never struck me as a truly great band.

Chris from Chicago Experience is simply the name we give our mistakes

I see this band from another perspective. I've always thought Weezer was widely criticized and even scoffed at. And I never knew why. Maybe, as said before me, it's that power pop can't be taken seriously. I don't think they've made a bad album. And I find the Blue album brilliant.

Blue is good, but Pinkerton is great - my favorite album of 1996.

I have no problem with power pop but Weezer were hardly the best the genre had to offer.

Pinkerton for me. Blue album was awesome but love the writing on Pinkerton a bit more.

I agree, I'm not actually THAT much of a Weezer fan in general regarding their other albums but that Blue Album is just absolutely perfect in every way. A desert island classic for sure!

Pinkerton for me. Love love love it. It was the second CD I bought after getting my first car, and I played the crap out of it in there while driving around (the first CD was Kilroy Was Here).
