Bassists for Melvins never last too long. Lori Black is Shirley Temple's daughter, btw.

  7. Oasis went through a few drummers, but I always thought the phrase "revolving door" could have been invented for ELO's string players especially... and don't even get me started on the ever-changing personnel of Part II/The Orchestra!

John "Stumpy" Pepys (1964–1966) (Portrayed by Ed Begley, Jr. in the video "Gimme Some Money") Died in a bizarre gardening accident, that the authorities said was "best left unsolved."
Eric "Stumpy Joe" Childs (1966–1967) Choked on vomit of unknown origin, perhaps but not necessarily his own, because "you can't really dust for vomit."
Peter "James" Bond (1967–1977) (Portrayed by Russ Kunkel whose character was mistakenly credited as the name of the previous drummer) Spontaneously combusted on stage during a jazz festival on the Isle of Lucy, leaving behind what has been described alternatively as a "globule" or a "stain"
Mick Shrimpton (1977–1982) (Portrayed by R. J. "Ric" Parnell) Exploded onstage.
Joe "Mama" Besser (1982) (Portrayed by Fred Asparagus). Claimed he "couldn't take this 4/4 ****"; according to an MTV interview with Spinal Tap in November 1991, he disappeared along with the equipment during their Japanese tour. He is either dead or playing jazz. The name is a play on that of Joe Besser, who similarly had a short-lived and ill-fitted stint as a member of The Three Stooges.
Richard "Ric" Shrimpton (1982–1999) Allegedly sold his dialysis machine for drugs; presumed dead.
Sammy "Stumpy" Bateman (1999-2001) Died trying to jump over a tank full of sharks while on a tricycle in a freak show.
Scott "Skippy" Scuffleton (2001–2007) Fate unknown.
Chris "Poppa" Cadeau (2007–2008) Eaten by his pet python Cleopatra.
Plus 9 other drummers at various times (Probably between 1970 and 1981), all of whom are dead.
RIP, all. Thanks for your service.

    Fleetwood Mac guitarists:

Peter Green - acid damage - quit

Jeremy Spencer - brainwashed by religious cult - quit

    Danny Kirwan - erratic behavior/alcoholism - fired

Bob Weston - had affair with Fleetwood's wife right under his nose while on tour - fired - remainder of tour cancelled

Bob Welch - burnout from being co-manager of band with Fleetwood, as well as frontman, sole guitarist, dominant singer/songwriter + a desire to make heavier music (Paris) - quit

Lindsey Buckingham - unwilling to tour and wanting instead to devote his time to completing his solo album (finally released 5 years later) - quit

+ the 3 interim guitarists used to mark time until Buckingham came back:

Rick Vito - 1 album - Behind The Mask

Billy Burnette - 2 albums - Behind The Mask and Time

    Dave Mason - 1 album - Time

I thought they only had two drummers, Paul Hester committed suicide only after they seemed to have called it a day. Not sure if that is a revolving door, maybe a one way swinging kitchen exit/entry door. :D

Simple Minds- Drums (3 on one album), bass (fired Derek Forbes then went through 2 until he came back, then they never called him back and got another bassist......who left to be in some French band, now they have a good one named Jed Grimes who nailed a festival gig on short notice without even a sound check. Watch some of their recent videos and you'll see a great bass player. They've also been through their fair share of keyboard players although the current one has been with them for about 14 years.

Didn't Lee Mavers sack the entire band while making their one album? Then you have Oasis shaking things up quite a bit. Says a lot about bands like U2 who manage to stay together. I guess Larry Mullen Jr. runs a tight ship.

Mick Shrimpton wasn't bad, but no one will ever truly replace Eric "Stumpy Joe" Childs.

Incidentally, did anyone notice that Spinal Tap - in real life - have started to become this?

    * The original TV incarnation of the band featured Derek, David and Nigel of course, plus a pre-death Eric "Stumpy Joe" Childs on drums, and a keyboardist played by Loudon Wainwright III (who may or may not be Ross MacLochness).
    * The demo reel version of the band featured Derek, David, Nigel and Mick Shrimpton, plus an unidentified actor as Viv Savage, who is a completely different character than the TIST version.
    * The movie version of the band featured Derek, David, Nigel, Mick Shrimpton (and eventually Joe "Mama" Besser), plus the familiar incarnation of Viv Savage.
    * The touring version of the band, starting in 1984, still featured Ric Parnell on drums - but this time, as Mick Shrimpton's blonde-haired brother Rick.
    * After Ric Parnell's departure, they've had various other drummers including (the actual) Mick Fleetwood and Skippy Skuffleton. Not to mention, C.J. Vanston on keyboards.

Pearl Jam had a revolving door of drummers its first eight years before finally hiring Matt Cameron in 1998, after Soundgarden broke up.

    Dave Krusen (1990-1991)
    Played on Ten.

    Matt Chamberlain (1991)
Performed with the band during its 1991 tour. Can be heard on the live version of "Alive" from the single.

    Dave Abbruzzese (1991-1994)
    Played on Vs. and Vitalogy.

    Jack Irons (1994-1998)
Played on No Code and Yield.

    Matt Cameron (1998- )
All studio albums since Binaural and all live albums since Live on Two Legs.
