wow.....that's .......hopefully..you can go thru it....and later....leave it behind......yup......those songs can do ya in....

  2. I've come to the conclusion that perhaps you never really get over it...but that time and just moving forward helps you live with it.
It's not all been bad... I've found out I am much stronger than perhaps I ever thought...and I have my 2 lads living with me.
    Life ehh!!!!!

This groundbreaking guitarist is of course one of my favourites, and a great composer too. On that track I can feel a seemingly consolating spirit.

Never paid attention to the lyrics though (usually my fault, still some difficulties due to my limited vocabulary)

And he looks like he's had a stroke too. Tragic at so young an age!

This may sound like a strange choice, but Trailer by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers is devastatingly sad to me.

The Cure's The Drowning Man. The lyrics are downright vivid but very sad and depressing. Ouch.

I’ve already nominated a couple but I’d forgotten this one. I don’t actually know what it’s about, or if it’s meant to be sad, but it gets me every time.

Richard Thompson should own this category! I'll go with "Beeswing," about a lost love too wild for the narrator.

    Without You by Badfinger.
The chorus "I can't live if living is without you. I can't live. I can't give anymore." composed and sung by two people who later decided to take their own lives is heartbreakingly poignant.

I guess we all have our favorite tearjerkers.

Abba's the Winner Takes it All is sublime, even tho its sort of a disco ballad. Still, Aggie really sells the heartbreak and the arrangement, to me, is beyond brilliant.

I have other songs that are sad, for my own personal reasons, that might not appear sad to other people.

I Wish I Was Your Mother and Sea-Diver, by Ian Hunter/Mott, and Gypsy, by Suzanne Vega, are terribly sad to me because they remind me of someone's tragic death.

Nothing But A Child by Steve Earle reminds me of the child I lost in a divorce.

things like that, I guess we all have these song associations.
