I don't have many but a few favorites with good sound to boot are

    Psycho - Herrmann (Unicorn UK)
Quo Vadis - Rosza (London Phase 4)
Peter Gunn - Mancini (RCA Victor)

Also not soundtracks per se, but the RCA Film Score series by Gerhardt / Wilkinson are great.

Without a doubt my favorite is Cal by Mark Knopfler. Local Hero is good and gets a lot of mention but Cal is deeper, wider Celtic Soul.

    The Last Waltz
    The Secret Of Roan Innish

I've never even seen that movie and I've had the soundtrack since it was new. Slayer's version of "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida" should be legendary. Also, it was the first exposure I ever had to Glenn Danzig and the "To Sir with Love"-like song made me think he was a macho balladeer along the lines of the then-emerging Michael Bolton.

For me its got to be One From The Heart. The music serves as the movie's narrative. Crystal Gayle's voice is the perfect foil to Tom Waits rasp.

  23. "Yellow Submarine Songtrack"- preferred over old soundtrack version
"Let It Be"- love all variations of the "Get Back" project film albums, the original, "Naked" etc.
"Magical Mystery Tour"- a shorter film with one side of film songs & another side of non-film songs.
"Help"- U.K. version with one side of film songs & another side of non-film songs preferred over U.S. actual film soundtrack
"A Hard Day's Night"- U.K. version with one side of film songs & another side of non-film songs preferred over U.S. actual film soundtrack

Psych-Out - This one is short due to being a 60s single-vinyl album (now available on cd as well). The main reason that I picked it is because it introduced me many years ago to Strawberry Alarm Clock & The Seeds - both great 60s psych bands. I went nuts on collecting 60s psych thereafter.
