P.S. if you have unused Ultraviolet codes that you don't want, please PM me. I will pay a couple bucks each for the titles I want. Thanks. Sorry if this is an inappropriate place to post this request, but I figured you folks might be able to help.

Went to Sam's to purchase "The Hobbit" on Sunday, they were sold out, but I did get "Willow". Not the best movie ever, but it brings back good memories.

The Grifters pre-order is 4.99 from Amazon. Maybe a mistake so grab it!*

    * I've heard mixed things about the transfer, so buyer beware.

Watched part of it Myke and it sounded pretty good to me. Now it wasn't a loud listening session. Will try it again and let you know upon further examination. Fairly good show, John Prine was a bit of a letdown, while Jorma sounded great.

" One step forward, two (or more) steps back. Maybe Time Life hasn't gotten the memo yet about Blu-ray consumers preferring (if not outright demanding) lossless audio, but rather bafflingly Love for Levon comes with only lossy audio options, Dolby Digital 5.1 and Dolby Digital 2.0. (This is especially odd considering the fact that some previous Time Life Blu-ray releases have had lossless audio.) This just seems like a kind of boneheaded decision for a Blu-ray set that is all about the music. The 5.1 mix sounds fine within its lossy confines, but perhaps surprisingly, I actually ended up liking the 2.0 mix more, as it offers a less diffuse rendering of the music and tends to focus things in a much sharper way, with little if any "crowding" of the various elements. Fidelity is fine, if never overwhelmingly brilliant, but even under the best of lossy circumstances, most fans are going to wonder why this set doesn't offer lossless audio. "

Thanks, but I refuse to give my money to manufacturers still doing this. NO excuse. If I wanted DVD audio, I'd get the DVD. Now I won't buy it at all on principle.

Way off-topic, but this film is horrible. I had to watch it to see my City, but ugh. I nearly had to turn it off!

I didn't look to see if we have a "Best of 2012" thread, but I liked
    Moonrise Kingdom
    ZD30
    Beasts of the Southern Wild
    Argo
    Looper
    Skyfall
Compliance (this one is messed up!)
Holy Motors (ok, this one is WAY out there)
    The Dark Knight Rises

*Haven't yet seen Django, Silver Linings or several others yet.

Interesting. What about the movie did you dislike? I really did think it was the best film I saw all year. I liked the book (The Perks Of Being A Wallflower) but I thought the film was even better.

    Just curious,

I just picked up the second season of Star Trek The Next Generation for $35 plus tax at Best Buy. I saw it offered online, but it was sold out there. Reservable at some stores, I was lucky enough to have one do that close by, so I grabbed it. I paid $50+ for Season One, and they both usually sit around the $80 mark, so I was pleased to get it for less than half of that today.

Generic coming of age. Very poor acting, writing, casting. Simple stereotypes. And the music savvy characters couldn't place Bowie's Heroes? Really? The only redeeming quality was seeing Pittsburgh.

    And now...back on topic.

I finally tracked down Best Buy steelbook exclusive for Zero Dark Thirty. Whew. I cracked open season two of Game of Thrones. What a beautiful series. Wow. I don't own season one yet. No way I'd watch this on HBO with the 1080i and compressed audio (Dolby Digital). Gotta go blu-ray.

Watched it today. Very nice. Best I've ever seen it. No mono mix. Well worth the $9 on Amazon.
