Made by Rudy Bozak who was famous for his speakers such as his Concert Grand B-410 as shown below. Rudy used to live not far from my house in CT ...
I had one years ago. I purchased it slightly used with a Mac C20. It was my first step-up from a cheap Kenwood receiver. I'd still own it today except for the cost of replacing the proprietary RCA tube which seemed to have a lifespan of a year or so. I traded the Fisher for a Crown D150 which is still working perfectly today. That was over 45-years ago. And the Mac C20 is still working, but back then McIntosh was replacing the tubes once a year at their clinics for free!
Looks like Mitsubishi was the only other audio company that made amps with similar look from that era ...
I have a question. Didn't Kenwood make a monoblock amp, probably 100-150W or so? I do not know the model number. One of the most impressive audio demos I have heard in a store was, to the best of my recollection, the following system: Micro-Seiki Turntable w/ integrated arm, Grado Signature II cartridge, Rappaport preamp, Kenwood monoblock amps, driving dual Dahlquist DQ-10s (stacked vertically). I had not heard of Rappaport before that time nor since. I have looked on eBay for Kenwood monoblock amps, and all I find is amps for car audio. Now I'm wondering if I imagined it. I don't think so. Based on that demo, I certainly wouldn't mind finding one of those amps, if I only knew what I was looking for. Barring that, I recall that Electrocompaniet made a low-power amp that was extremely well-reviewed -- I wouldn't mind having one. Again, I'd have to search for the model numbers. I have the Musical Concepts-modified Hafler DH-200, and it was an impressive mod. There is an adjustment for the current going through the MOSFETs, and I have found over time that it tends to wander and need readjustment. I don't know the reason, but I'm a little leery of the amp now, after all these years. Perhaps this is only a problem with my sample.
Vintage Kenwood L-07M monoblock amplifier ... These could be the only monoblocs ever made by Kenwood. To be honest, I have no clue as to what the current status for Kenwood is. It may still be in the car audio business but I certainly have not seen any home audio products from Kenwood in a number of years ...
