A nice vintage Telefunken receiver - it really does not look that much different from American receivers from the same era ...

Vintage British receiver - Ferrograph was very famous for its open-reel decks ...

I do not have this Revox receiver but do have the tuner which has somewhat better FM specs ...

Apparently, Marantz was not the only receiver with gyro tuning ...

    Thanks!
To make a good score better, the Sansui 771 came with a BIC 980 TT, which was fitted with a Shure V15 III...
The BIC croaked after about 3 months, but then I fitted the Shure onto an Akai AP-207 TT that I found at a thrift store and it sounds pretty cool.
And I didn't even have to pay the entire $10...the nice old gent selling it to me at a yard sale accepted around $9.50, because I didn't
have the entire $10 he was asking. I had like $9 , plus some change I dug up in the cupholder of my car. Nice guy!

The Shure V15 III is an all-time cartridge classic ... :righton:

Is this the same AR that makes the speakers and turntable?

Great thread, beautiful equipment here, must stay away from eBay!

Most folks think of AR as Audio Research instead of Acoustic Research. At any rate, the AR electronics are generally quite rare ...

Many of the vintage receivers shown here are unlikely to be found on eBay IMHO ...

BTW, I started a new "Vintage amp/preamp" thread.

Hmm, looks like they got their knobs from the same place Mc did at the time. :D

Didn't Mac have its knobs custom-made back in the day?

This German-made Telefunken receiver looks real special. I wonder if it may be listed on eBay?

Not sure, but I think custom knobs were later rather than earlier. Here's one of a pair of MR-55-era knobs I've got kicking around the place (earmarked for a guitar build); compare to the Pilot's knobs.

Here is a better and larger image for that lovely Telefunken TR 800 receiver. Looks like it was sold in Canada ...

Did any American receivers have midrange control back in the day?

My Tandberg TR-2075MKII also has midrange control.

My Marantz 2235b has midrange control (as do a lot of Marantzes from that era), which definitely comes in handy sometimes.

Anyone know a good source for Vintage Pioneer Parts?

I have been trying to find a Tone Control Tip for an SX D-5000/7000 for about 3 years, now.

I assume you tried ebay? Otherwise it might just be best to buy a whole receiver in "for parts" condition, and hopefully you can get the parts you need that way.

Yep. I can't buy an entire unit for a Switch Tip. I am not that crazy. Yet.
