I visited a record show recently and came home with the following vinyl goodies:

Element of Light, Robyn Hitchcock & the Egyptians

Liquid Acrobat as Regards the Air, The Incredible String Band

Veedon Fleece, Van Morrison (had one already, but this was mint & cheap, so why not have a spare?)

Enlightenment, Van Morrison (this sounds much better on LP than I would've expected)

... and three British Beatles 45s ("She Loves You," "All You Need is Love" and "Lady Madonna," all "green-sleeve" 1970s pressings)

RMAF goodies so far...Pure Pleasure Records on both:
    Clark Terry, Color Changes
    Mingus, Mingus Dynasty

If you go to RMAF bring lots of cash. Chad at Acoustic Sounds has quite a number of good titles including Zeppelins for $40.

Holy crap! This was playing on the radio as I was reading this! Public radio rules! I need to make a donation. (They're in the middle of a fund drive.)

Click here for a live stream of Nightside Jazz & Blues. Between 10pm and 5am every night (eastern time.)

Beatles - Magical Mystery Tour (1980's Apple Electrola German/French)
Sounds very good - much better than the EMI/Apple UK vinyl recent reissues - although it lacks the booklet and gatefold cover.

David Bowie - Heroes (orig AFL1-2522 US tan label RCA)
Pretenders - Extended Play (US pressing still in shrink)

    Steely Dan
    - Katy Lied (KENDUN B US ABC)
    - Greatest Hits (US ABC RL Masterdisk)

The Clash - The Clash (US Epic)
Depeche Mode - Speak And Spell (US Sire Specialty pressing)
Eurythmics - Here Comes The Rain Again 12" (US RCA)
New Order UK 12 inch singles:
    - Temptation
    - Theives Like Us
    - Touched By The Hand of God

And a ton of London LL Mono classical records still to be cataloged.:)

That is one amazing coincidence! Good taste is everywhere.
    I can't believe I almost didn't take it home.

    It is not a bootleg.

It is the original Portuguese pressing, and it sounds excellent, about as good as this recording will sound on vinyl.

Please remember that this is not an audiophile spectacular recording, and NO pressing of this record will sound spectacular.

I should clarify that it was his version of Susie Q that was playing, not anything from that album. (Had to look it up:o .)

Went to Goodwill today looking for some nice jackets, but, of course, I couldn't stay away from the vinyl.

Found these in the middle of about 101 101 Strings albums. 50 cents each:

Bruce Springsteen- Darkness On The Edge Of Town (Columbia JC-35318) NM. Looks like it's never been played!

Bruce Springsteen- Born In The U.S.A. (Columbia QC-38653) NM. Masterdisk RL on both sides. This one also looks like it's never been played.

    Ted Nugent- S/T (Epic PE-33692, orange label) VG++, 1B/1B

Harry Nilsson- Nilsson Schmilsson (RCA LSP-4515) VG+. Dynaflex vinyl, TML on both sides. Cover water damaged. Going to have to give it a shot of Lysol.

Dan Fogelberg & Tim Weisberg- Twin Sons Of Different Mothers (Full Moon/Epic JE-55339) VG++. Masterfonics on both sides. Also water damaged. Might clean up to NM.

Heart- Dreamboat Annie (Mushroom MRS-5005) VG++. Kendun on both sides. I'll compare this with the copy I found last week and keep the best one.

These ones from Musical Memories, $5.00 each:

Rossington Collins Band- Anytime, Anyplace, Anywhere (MCA- 5130) NM. Criteria MF on both sides. (I think MF stands for Miami, Florida.) Rather heavy vinyl. I went there specifically looking for this one.

Iron Butterfly- In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida (Atco SD-33-250) VG++. Yellow label, Gold Record Award sticker on cover. So hard to find a copy of this that isn't trashed.

Thomas Dolby- The Golden Age Of Wireless (Capitol ST-12271) NM. Purple label, Wally on both sides. Plastic sleeve!:realmad:

Y'day I bought this in a used book store. Anybody knowledgeable enough about the Thompson Twins to render an opinion about if it's really their autographs?

The Shadows - Self-titled UK Columbia stereo EP from 1961 - mint unplayed condition. Very interesting to compare this with the Dutch 12" stereo reissue from the 80s. Both sound superb, but if anything I prefer the original.

Gene Pitney - 24 Hours From Tulsa - United Artists 45 rpm single in company sleeve

Ricky Nelson - Sweeter Than You - London tri-centre 45 rpm single in company sleeve

    Christina Carter - 'Electrice'
White Rainbow - 'Prism of Eternal Now'
    Andrew Bird - 'Armchair Apocrypha'
Boris (w/ Michio Kurihara) - 'Rainbow'
    Iron & Wine - 'The Shepherd's Dog'
Pinback - 'Autumn of the Seraphs'
    Pinback - 'Summer in Abaddon'
Built to Spill - 'Perfect From Now On' (reissue)
Don Caballero - 'What Burns Never Returns'
    Polvo - 'Shapes'
Neutral Milk Hotel - 'In the Aeroplane Over the Sea'
Bedhead - 'What Fun Life Was' (to replace my overly worn 14 year old copy!)

As you can tell, I'm on a serious mid-90's Indie Rock kick. Reliving my by-gone youth, I suppose...

Also received a bunch of those Japanese Fantasy 10" reissues (Miles Davis, Sonny Rollins, Monk, etc) that are soon to be gone, gone, gone...
