Speaking of blues, if you want to hear some nasty Texas blues guitar licks, check out the band Nitzinger. John Nitzinger played some tasteful slow blues and some wicked nasty rocking blues. Seriously! Get the albums Nitzinger S/T, and, One Foot in History. His guitar playing always amazes me, and the guy was a great songwriter to boot!
Yet another older, southern, life-long amateur bluesman given a spotlight by the unprecedented efforts of Fat Possum and the nonprofit Music Maker. From the 2016 debut album at age 63. T-Model, Junior, Caldwell, Payton, "Wine"...the estimable stable of older blues artists continues to grow at the Possum. P.S.: If you're not familiar: https://musicmaker.org/
Authorized Bootleg - Fillmore Auditorium, San Francisco Nov. 4-6 1966 Had this on late last night. Today it is my current blues favorite.

Found this CD used in mint condition for $2.99. It was put out by Time-Life and I think there are others in the series? Great sound. Dust My Broom - Elmore James I'm A King Bee - Slim Harpo Got My Mojo Working - Muddy Waters Spoonful - Howlin' Wolf Big Boss Man - Jimmy Reed Bad Bad Whiskey - Amos Milburn Frosty - Albert Collins Farther Up The Road - Bobby Bland I Can't Quit You Baby - Otis Rush Call It Stormy Monday But Tuesday Is Just As Bad - T- Bone Walker Who Do You Love - Bo Diddley Boom Boom - John Lee Hooker My Babe - Little Walter Mama Talk To Your Daughter - J.B. Lenoir Bring It On Home - Sonny Boy Williamson Wang Dang Doodle - Koko Taylor The Thrill Is Gone - B.B. King Born Under A Bad Sign - Albert King Stone Crazy - Buddy Guy Trouble Blues - Charles Brown
Right now, it's a new one that sounds classic: Monster Mike Welch & Mike Ledbetter - Right Place, Right Time
Would have loved to have seen the show...but it's just a bit far from home. Dylan Bishop obviously listens & learns from the best. Your brother & nephew are in good company.
Thank you.Yes they are.Say if The Johnny Fortunato R&B Revue ever comes your way check em out.Thats my kid bros band.Pretty good.Waiting for that nephew to mature he does have a uncanny Green tone.Peace.
Never heard of that Muddy album. Thanks. That Time Life comp is awesome. What a great selection. The search is fun but a cheap great find is such a great feeling. You scored. Marvin Gaye {Purple Snowflakes} Charles Brown {Merry Christmas Baby} BB Kings {Here's To You} Mojo Christmas comp, and other Christmas things, great listen.
I just downloaded this and it’s actually pretty good on first listen. If your a fan of Magic Sam / Otis Rush it may float your boat.
This is the first UK issue from 1969 with 18 tracks. It’s far from amazing sounding but it beats the reissue from 1980 on Flyright Records called Groaning The Blues. The Blue Horizon is as far as I know the best I am going to hear Otis Rush’s work from this period. Unless they did a Robert Johnson Centennial style clean up job on the tapes. The Japanese reissue sounds equally as good with quieter vinyl.
I agree. They sound nice esp. considering they are compilations sourced from diverse recording conditions. I have several from this series. You can typically get them cheap and they are great listening.
I’ve been playing it all day along with Otis Rush. They have done a nice job of keeping it vintage and not getting All Joe Bonemassa esq like most so called blues players. Edit: I actually really like some of Joe’s stuff too by the way.
