When using a mono cart to listen to mono records, will marks or dust cause less or more of a pop?

It's pretty normal to hear a small mark on a record move across the stereo space but I was just thinking, what's the difference with a mono cart?

Will it be halved if it is on slightly on the groove, or will it be amplified as it will now be in the centre?

Less. You're going to hear far less surface noise on a mono LP when played with a mono cart.

Should be less. It can be more distracting if the noise doesn't cancel well though. Like you say it puts all the noise in the music. I usually listen in stereo unless there is vertical distortion on sibilance, then it can work wonders.
