[IMG] I always thought Bobby Darin's sudden death, just as he was making a comeback with a new TV show, was sad.

This is the Steve Hoffman Forum. The correct answer is The Beatles.

Jimi Hendrix - I would have liked to hear how his working with Miles Davis would have turned out.

You could also argue Duane Allman's motorcycle wreck at the height of the band's popularity. Duane was also a big Miles Davis fan.

Yeah, the Badfinger saga is one very sad tale.

I also think The Band had a lot of tragedy to deal with.

doing drugs and going insane...is unfortunate...but Syd did in fact live a life after Floyd. Tragic would be someone like Jason Becker who was a phenomenal musician at the front end of his career...22 I think and then diagnosed with ALS.

I thought the greatest tragedy was "Macca don't get no respect."

  13. Although I'm not a fan it would have to be Michael Jackson I reckon. Considering all his trials and tribulations over the entire course of his life.

Lee Morgan getting shot and killed was also very tragic as well. He was one of my favorite jazz trumpeters.

Another very tragic loss was the death of Otis Redding in the plane crash. My favorite soul singer of all-time.

Dimebag Darrell too being murdered on stage was very surreal and tragic.

He suffered from child abuse & being overworked at such a young age. Being accused of the most heinous things the last 20 years of his life. Sadness & drug problems that led to his death.
His musical legacy being overshadowed by the whole molestation controversy and his ever changing appearance.

Clifford Brown. As far as I know, a clean living guy who was a passenger in a car with a bad driver.

Buddy Holly, Sam Cooke, and Otis Redding. The three of them were in the process of changing the game at the time of their deaths.

I have to go with SpinningInfinity and say Jason Becker. About to replace Steve Vai in David Lee Roth's band. The kid is 19 years old, on top of the world and he was hit with ALS.

    Harry Womack

"Noting that Harry was going through personal problems with his girlfriend, Bobby advised Harry to stay at his home for a time while he went out on a promotional tour for his new album. On the night of March 9, 1974, Womack and his girlfriend at the time began arguing after the woman claimed she had found another woman's undergarments in a room Womack was occupying at his brother Bobby's house. Womack was stabbed to death by the girlfriend. The undergarments later turned out to be from a girlfriend of Bobby's. He was 28 years old."

    Wow
