    Joe Stampley made this song a hit twice, once during the 1960s with his blue-eyed soul band The Uniques and again during the 70s as a solo artist in the country genre.

    Definitely! Eddie Brigati, too. He was a bit more "vanilla" than Felix, but still very soulful with great range.

    Tony Joe White. He was the first famous musician I ever saw in concert (opening for Steppenwolf in 1970). That's how I found out that Tony Joe was white.
    Johnny Rivers could also be pretty soulful when he rose to the occasion.
