Now I'm in another Bowie phase. Played Reality for the first time in a while yesterday, and been listening to other random songs throughout his career.
Out of my price range atm, so I opt for a cheaper model. I'm sure with the right setup I can get it kickin'...
Robert Palmer. If somebody has an original cd pressing of "Some People Can Do What They Like" that they'd like to sell. PLEASE contact me.
...this ...I'm transitioning out of a crazy Zappa phase into the twisted tales of Tom Waits. Zappa keeps pulling me back though so I've been going back and forth. Good stuff!
So, I dig that also, but it really seems like lip-synch (so much was done that way back then). As a double bass player, I'm seeing moves by him that aren't reflected in the music. That doesn't diminish the greatness of the studio track, but it begs the question: how does lip and instrument-synching affect one's appreciation of a particular piece of music on video? To add my opinion on obsession, I'd go with Harry Nilsson.
Here they are doing the song live a few years later w/ a different line-up. Lani Hall is still in the group but Janis Hansen was replaced by Karen Philipp around '68.
At the moment, it seems to be: Dylan (60s - 70s) Santana (1968 up to Lotus) Pink Floyd (1967 up to 1972)
Last week it was all Judas Priest and Iron Maiden, but this week has been a whole lot of live King Crimson.
