Was looking around the web at various CD player models and one of the first brands I checked was Marantz. I currently have one of their older models (the well-known 63SE) and have been happy with it's dependability - no problems.

Anyway, noticed a couple of interesting models for sale at American-Digital - the PMD 331 and PMD 340, which seem very similar but the latter has a few changes such as an upgraded motor for $100 more. Anyone own or heard the current line of Marantz players? I'm interested in single-disc (no carousels) and one with direct-access buttons to choose tracks.
Suggestions for other brands in the $500 - $700 range also welcome, CD or CD/SACD.

Thanks, Gary. I previously didn't find much of anything on the Marantz site for the models I mentioned, but will check the Asylum. Thanks for the reply.

    Casino,

I think you'll find that the models you've mentioned are "professional" CD players, designed for radio stations, etc.

Yes, they are. Have lots of good features and we could expect them to be pretty rugged. Not sure if the "sound" is as good as (or any better), though, than other players in the same price range. That's what I was curious about.
