She's a White Album fan...in the context of the album, WHP has its place.

    Besides...it's an original

It's the heaviest-sounding barre chord on the guitar (in standard tuning). That's the chord you want to bang out when testing an amplifier.

Yes, my thoughts exactly. If they stuck to the arrangement from the Star club/Hamburg days, this one could have been more "believable," as it were. But, they just had to go with that Don Ho-like arrangement... and I jus' don git it.

It does indeed...a place to lift the tone arm...a place to hit fast-forward...a place to hit the skip button...

    You get my drift.

Wow, most people think that about Rev9.

I always think of Lawrence Welk more than Don Ho when I hear Mr. Moonlight. Both of them rocked although I like Lawrence Welk more. He had great musicians on his show.

    True that!
But setting aside any time constraints, I'd much rather listen to Rev9 than WHP.

Wow. I mean, WHP is almost like, you know, maybe getting a prostate exam. Just close your eyes and go to your 'happy place', and in no time you can just pretend it never happened...

I'd say so! Whether I agree or disagree, it sounds like she really engages this stuff. :righton:

Well, this is where I'm at, so I'll just shut my face now.

I'm in the camp that if art has to be explained to me before I can decide whether I like it or not is just a waste of time.

Either the art/song hits you on some sort of visceral level and you have an emotional reaction, of some degree, good or bad.

For example, I think "Rain" is downright amazing -- I don't care if it took 10 minutes or 10 years to write or if it took five minutes or five days to record and it if it was a complete joke or serious as hell to the artist. I just love the end result. I just know what hits my big ears... and I like it!

It sounded like B-side filler when I first heard it via Dr. Feelgood & the Interns (who did it originally). The Beatles' version isn't much different.

It's not terrible, but I can think of other Beatles tracks I'd rather hear.

Also: I don't get the school of thought that says its' a "parody." That's pretty lame. Especially since the Beatles' remake sounds too close to the original.

Interesting. I did not know that about IB.
I wish I had a "transposing guitar". It would make playing a lot easier. :D

Different organ. (I think RRB was asking about the use of a Hammond.)
