Ac/dc fans are quick to dismiss it. Its more bluesy than most Ac/Dc albums but it's my second favourite Brian Johnson album after Back In black.

It's very catchy and has lots of groove. Title track, Safe in new york city, Hold me back, Meltdown, Can't Stand Still, Satellite Blues, All screwed up. This songs rock and are very catchy with a lot of hooks.

The album does have filler like any other AC/DC album besides BIB and HtH. SO WHY no love for it?

I remember the title song and really liked it, but forgot about since it kind of dropped off the radar and never hear it. If the album is similar, I may need to pick it up.

I always liked this one but then again I like almost every AC/DC album quite a bit! Definitely more of a groove record than a hard rock record so maybe that is why it doesn't get as much recognition. I thought "Safe in NYC" was an interesting choice for a single at the time in favor of some of the other album tracks.

Am a casual fan but it's one of few AC/DC releases I have.
Like you say, it's more bluesy and I enjoy it.

I enjoyed the album when it came out. I remember seeing AC/DC promote the album with a live performance on MTV's TRL! The video for Satellite Blues received some airplay on MTV and VH1 as I recall. Fun album that was released when N'Sync and Creed were all the rage.

    Powerage has no filler.

I like Stiff Upper Lip. That was a great tour too.

I bought the LP when it originally came out, glad I did, because I have never seen another copy since.

I've got a lot of love for Stiff Upper Lip. The album flows very well, and has a nice natural sound to it. Very well recorded.

I don't play it that often, but I always dig it when I do.

  14. Haven't heard anything off it in years, but at the time I thought it was the definition of "stale" and "going through the motions".

Like Stiff Upper Lip very much! Back In Black & Flick Of The Switch are the only Brian albums I play more.

    I can't say it enough...Powerage is perfect! :D

And man...I got AWESOME seats when they came here for the Stiff Upper Lip Tour! I really lucked out on that one! Slash's Snakepit was supposed to be the opening act...but Slash got sick and they didn't play...so that kinda sucked. I really liked Ain't Life Grand.

Meh. I just don't get anything out of it.

I don't think it's really bad. It just doesn't do anything for me.

solid album, I played it a lot when it came out but like with most big bands that have so many classics, it is bound to get lost in the shuffle or forgotten about

I think it easily has the worst album cover art of any AC/DC album.

In fact, I think the album cover art subconsciously keeps me from listening to it as often as I might if it had a great album cover.

Blow Up Your Video doesn't have very good album art either but at least it isn't fakey bronze brown like SUL.

    Rant over.

I'd rather hear tracks from Stiff Upper Lip than any of the usual suspects from Back in Black for the millionth time.
