Why was The Bee Gees' Stayin' Alive video sped-up originally?

    On older copies of the video, it's all sped-up.

    What was the reason for this? I guess it might have been made for the European market, and that was why it was presented this way? I don't know.

    For that matter, why did they shoot a second video (cheaply, mostly abusing the Doctor Who-esque "howl around" technique) where Barry is clean-shaven?

    You have it backwards. Clean shaven was first then the promo of them on the MGM backlot.
