My tests are extensive, since I need to check them for many different properties. It usually involves playing through everything in my collection at least once (yes, even the 78s), and my current and past favorites maybe 10, 20, even 30 times each. And it must withstand a half dozen wild parties, and several Thanksgiving dinners/food fights. This is the only way I will let tested gear leave my house. Interesting...I don't think there is a single thing I've ever owned that I'm done testing yet, since I'm very far behind. The sooner I get 'em, though, the sooner I can finish my testing and send them on their way. So, guys...it could be awhile before you send the white van over to pick up the speakers.

You're a pro, Rudy. So hard to find that kind of thoroughness these days.

If it gets through Rudy, you know it's a product worth owning. :D

So, Colin, there you have it. Official audiophile opinions!!

If I got these for a steal, I would probably sell them and get a great pair of high quality speakers for a fraction of what these sell for. But if they were given to me by a close relative, there might be some hurt feelings, so I would just as confused as you are. I don't have to worry about being given any second hand $11k speakers, though!

As long as Dad's picking up the tab for the move, make sure he arranges to have them delivered INSIDE the house. As I remember it, they run around 200lbs. each.

Oh, the Old Man won't be hurt at all if I sell them. Heck, he almost encouraged me to sell some of the stuff he's giving to me: "I have some up scale amplification stuff (really good) that you may have, and be in a position to sell it or use it (you should get a good price), as you see fit (large amp, pre-amp,D/A converter, CD deck)." He's not specifically mentioned selling the speakers, but I don't think he'd care. And hey, he's moving to Arizona - he'd never know! :D

Frankly, I'm very tempted to sell all this stuff and use the money toward some really high-end home theater equipment. I almost never listen to music at home. (It's true - ban me from the forum now!) Most of my time and effort goes toward DVDs, for reasons you'll discern if you look at my sig. I could use an upgrade in HT more than nice stereo speakers. Dunno when - or if - I'll do this, but if I had $5000 or so to drop on HT...

I'll get all that OTHER equipment Saturday with the speakers - I look forward to posting models and brands to get opinions of it (and prices too - cha-ching!)

And don't forget - I'm not just getting these speakers for a steal. Since the Old Man's covering the move, he's technically PAYING ME to take the speakers off of his hands! Does everyone who wants these babies officially hate me now???

Oh yeah, there's no question they'll bring them in the Slanty Shanty and plop them where I want. Still not sure where I'll put them, though.

And I hope all you guys had fun making your own plans for MY speakers!!! :D

No problem, Gents! I'll be doing the pick up next week. First stop: Dave's place. Dave, I should get there in about 40 years... :D

See, Colin? Still having fun! And we're all really, really jealous! Enjoy them - or the new HT system - or whatever you decide to do! :)
