Listen to how spectacularly Lou Rawls slaughters the bridge - not once but TWICE!

I don't know which is more astounding: That Lou Rawls did not know the melody of this chestnut by 1967, or that the producer on the gig didn't intervene.

Ouch. Painful. Would have been better off doing "You'll Never Find Another Christmas Like Mine" - at least he knows that melody.

In Madonna's semi-defense, it's clear she intends her version as a goof/spoof, so that's why she uses such a silly voice.

Even though I love Madonna, I admit that song's not a fave - even with a less campy vocal, it just isn't my thinig...

Yes, Mike Love also sounds more nasal than usual, if there could be such a thing.

This is horrible. For me it's unlistenable. The crowbarring in of too many words in the title doesn't fit the melody at all. It sounds extremely clumsy.

  12. I love this version. The triplet feel in the verses is pretty cool.

A well-known 78 collector on Facebook has perhaps the only surviving copy of this recording of 'O holy night', made at RCA Victor's New York studio on 5 December 1930. Note that this was not a recording intended for commercial release; several record companies offered custom recording services even prior to the electrical recording era.

This is then-12 year old William J. Amerling, who sounded like he'd taken singing lessons from Alfalfa of the Little Rascals shorts....

Is there a 'worst'? They're probably all equally bad.

Of the ones that get played a lot Springsteen's cover of "Santa Claus Is Coming To Town" is the worst, his other cover " Merry Christmas Baby" isn't much better.

    Interesting.
    Garth has 2 Christmas cds.
Beyond the Season and The Magic of Christmas.
The first is a traditional country arrangements the second is brass or big band which is almost traditional Christmas arrangements.
I always liked both by him and I'm not his biggest fan after his first few secular albums.

Time to bump this one up again.

I just heard a terrible cover of God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen by The Barenaked Ladies and Sarah McLachlan.
