I checked on Wikipedia and the single for All Tomorrow's Parties was released in 1966.

No. I wasn't born until 69. I'm just listing my personal favorite singles from different years, 1966 in this case.

The Oz music scene at that time was pretty rough and raw. There were lots of bands who did covers, that I did not know were covers until much later (which I think was the point). There were a few doing originals, but mostly not to my taste. I'm afraid I was not a fan of the Loved Ones. I didn't like the Easybeats much either until they released Friday On My Mind.

Yes indeed! Australia went through a lot of what UK went through too. The singles would come in, the deejays would hand
them off to local artists to cover, and they'd all get a cut from the record.
A lot of 'Shady' dealings went on even then in the 50's and early 60's in our land.

Well, while I knew the record and heard a lot of their hits I was 10. Didn't even know they were from Taylor for a long time. And I recognize none of the last names. But SOMEONE in my neighborhood knew them because everybody had their records.

Great song, but this wasn't released as a single in 1966 by the Beatles.

Another great single I have on the Hanna Barbera label from 1966, the Four Gents "I've Been Trying" (a Curtis Mayfield song). Hanna Barbera was a cool label with lots of different styles. Notice how the lead singer on this goes into "Billy Stewart mode" during the fade-out.

"Paperback Writer" - The Beatles. My favourite of all their singles.
"Eight Miles High" - The Byrds. My favourite of all their singles.
"Good Vibrations" - The Beach Boys. My favourite of all their singles.
"Gimme Some Lovin'" - Spencer Davis Group. Very exciting.
"Hey Joe" - The Jimi Hendrix Experience. The start of something big.
"Bus Stop" - Hollies. Catchy. Written by a young Graham Gouldman, way before 10cc.
"Matthew and Son" - Cat Stevens. Used by Brian Matthew the British music broadcaster, part of my childhood.
"These Boots Are Made for Walkin'" Nancy Sinatra was a 1966 hit in the UK (maybe released December 65 in the US). Just great.

    Garage style tracks
    "7 and 7 Is" - Love
"Come See Me" - Pretty Things was number 43 in the charts the day I was born.
"Little Girl" - Syndicate of Sound. Memorable guitar sound.
