What were some of your Mother's favorite songs. No this isn't a Beatles Thread but some of the younger members Mom's could have had some "Mop Top" favorites.

My Mothers favorite song was "Crazy " by Patsy Cline. She fancied her a good singer she never passed up an opportunity sing karaoke to this Classic song written by Willie Nelson. It seems like she always had some Johnny Mathis on the stereo with "Chances Are" and "A Certain Smile.":shh:

What were some of your mother's favorite songs and post a link if you wish...:shtiphat:

John Gary, a fine singer with a three octave range, criminally under-known by most folks...

Well my mom was a Bobbie Soxer so there is Sinatra and the Big Bands of the 30s and 40s. When I was a child the albums I remember her having included one's by The Mama's and the Papa's, Roberta Flack, and Peter, Paul and Mary. When she passed away in 2015 at age 87 the CDs in her car included Barbara Striesand, James Taylor and (this one always makes me smile) Buddy Guy.

Oddly enough, "Your Mother Should Know" is one of Moms favorites! Others include "Luka", "Stop Draggin' My Heart Around", "Lucky Man", "Addicted to Love", "Drive", "Night Fever" and "If You Love Somebody, Set Them Free".

My mom was a classical music fan, and passed along to me her love for Beethoven, Chopin, and other composers.

On the lighter side, she heard me playing Art Garfunkel's version of I Only Have Eyes For You and encouraged me to seek out the original from 1934 by Dick Powell. It was one of her favorites from her childhood.

More importantly when my daughter was growing up Mom paid for piano and violin lessons. We couldn't have afforded it without her and our quality of life would have been greatly diminished. Thanks Mom, love and miss you.

My mom has such eclectic taste. She likes so many different kinds of music, but I remember this being one of her favorites when I was a kid.

My mother's favorite record was Jim Reeves Gentleman Jim. I Love You Because and I'd Fight The World. I can still hear her singing.I had to replace it twice as she wore it out.
Runners up include Anita Bryant Abiding Love and Patsy Cline Showcase.
I miss her......(tears in my eyes)

My mom was from the pre-rock generation (she graduated from high school in 1951), but she did like Elvis Presley and The Beatles' "Yesterday". Otherwise, she mostly listened to southern gospel.

My mom is going to be 80 next year.

Favorite songs would be hard for me to say, so I'll stick with artists:

    Her #1 is definitely:
    The Rolling Stones

    Her #2 is definitely:
    Aerosmith

Below that, I'm not so sure what her order would be, but some of her favorite artists, in alphabetical order, would include:

The Beatles & Paul McCartney solo
    Billy Joel
    The Black Eyed Peas
    Bob Dylan
    Bob Seger
    Bruce Springsteen
    Cher
    Daryl Hall & John Oates
    Elton John
    Elvis Presley
    Frank Sinatra
    KISS
    Lady Gaga
    Led Zeppelin
    Madonna
    Neil Diamond
    Prince
    Rod Stewart

So for the most part what she likes most is fairly commercial pop/rock, with a bit of a singer/songwriter bent, also with a bit of a dance bent, but she also has a bit of a hard rock side. With Lady Gaga I think part of my mom's attraction was her outrageousness re fashion etc.

My mom is in her early 70s and likes gospel and easy listening.

As far as secular music she enjoys the likes of Johnny Mathis, "Autumn Leaves" by Roger Williams, "My Cherie Amour" by Stevie Wonder, and maybe very light folk such as Simon and Garfunkel. But she's not much of a music listener other than traditional Christian stuff.

Blueberry Hill got a lot of play on our jukebox when we lived in Indiana. She introduced me to Motown through her love of "beach music" and was also the one who backed up my Elvis obsession when Dad would have been happy to skip The King for a while.

She told me I taught her to love the blues once I started learning how deeply rooted it was in American music.

It's hard to pick out absolute favorites out of everybody. I can more easily pinpoint artist specific favorites. For example, her favorite Beatles song is "I Saw Her Standing There". Favorite Chicago is "Just You N Me". Favorite Journey is "Separate Ways". And so forth.
