Diary of the Dead (2008) was pretty good too.

  2. In a way, if you accept the movie's premise of zombies taking over, the humor in Zombieland is kinda realistic. I could easily see characters like this - with their own individual quirks - acting the way they do... especially if their whole world has turned upside down. Their actions may seem humorous on the screen but it's fitting with the characters (I don't want to give away any spoilers so I won't cite examples).

This movie IMO is more about the four characters and their interactions with each other than the Zombies themselves. And that's why this movie succeeds; it's easily in my top movies of the year.

    Saw it tonight. Meh.

  4. I thought it was very good and very funny. Luckily, it took a very different tact from "Shaun of the Dead" (which evidently inspired the film). William Goldman did uncredited rewrites and you can kind of tell--thinking back there are elements of his "voice" in the narration.

    +2, agreed
The girls pwning the boys is cliche now, as is children pwning adults :(

An acquaintance's 11-year-old daughter loved it.

    Enough said...

You didn't like the cameo by the famous actor?

finally got to see this - it is awesome, and deserves every good review it got on rottentomatoes (89% on the tomatometer)

  8. I didn't really know too much about this one even though I love zombie movies.

Checked it out on DVD and really got into it. The slow motion kills during the begining are awesome.

I've rewatched it another 2 times in the same week!

(And yes, the cameo which I knew nothing about was kick ***)

One of the best cameo's ever. When I saw it in a theater I had no idea who it was gonna be so it was a hoot! The whole audience loved it.

  12. Seeing a rated "R" movie? An 11 year old? This film wasn't really appropriate for it.

What the heck does pwning mean?

To imply that because an 11 year old liked it that it's somehow not very good is pretty crappy thing to say...just admit it wasn't to your taste.

"Paranormal Activity" is a horror movie without horror!

Also, it's not devoid of humor - and some of it's actually INTENTIONAL!
