Someone in here or the Jazz And Conversation thread turned me on to this a few months back when they posted about it being an album they enjoyed while cooking. That caught my attention as I was pushing myself to cook more at the time so I streamed it a few nights in a row, loved it, and then came across this NM Japanese pressing a few weeks later. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go check on the salmon.
ALONE AT THE VANGUARD - FRED HERSCH (Palmetto) CD Recorded 30th November to 6th December 2010. CD mixed and mastered by Gene Paul and issued in a gatefold digipak sleeve. Another very impressive and satisfactory Fred Hersch solo recording - well worth checking out.
The always interesting Charles Lloyd... Passin' Thru - CHARLES LLOYD NEW QUARTET (Blue Note) CD Bass – Reuben Rogers Drums – Eric Harland Piano – Jason Moran Saxophone / Flute – Charles Lloyd The first track is a 17.45 minute version of 'Dream Weaver'. It was recorded at Montreux Jazz Festival June 30, 2016. Tracks 2-7 were recorded at live at The Lensic, Santa Fe New Mexico the following month (2016). CD mastered by Bernie Grundman and issued in quality gatefold digipak with 12-page booklet with photos and infos. This lengthy disc was also issued on a double LP.
I have the vinyl version of this album and really enjoy it along with other live Lloyd albums such as Love In, The Flowering and Forest Flower. He and his band members elicit a very positive response from their audiences and genuinely connect with them.

Love your posts and the images you posted, but this is one of the very few Coltrane albums I've never really liked (I know, I'm probably in the minority). To my ears the band isn't a tight unit, and Coltrane is the odd one out here, he doesn't sound comfortable. Your mileage may vary, of course.
All good. We like what we like. Blue Train was one of my very first jazz albums, perfect for a newbie (you could say), so holds a special place. I love it. The first side especially is killer, IMO. Thanks for the positive comment. I’m glad you like my posts/pics
