Wot, no tracklist? I'm hoping the two discs of 'Before' are an expanded version of the Strawberry Bubblegum disc.

Hoping it has the full length version of Art for Art's Sake and all their b-sides.

Interesting - there's not much visual distinction between the 2 sets.
Is that intentional, for the sake of uniformality, or just unimaginative complacency?

  5. If this is going to be mostly rare and unreleased stuff from the classic 1972-1976 era I may pick this up. But otherwise I'm afraid I'll pass. The world really doesn't need yet another 10cc hits compilation.

Track listing is now released , no unreleased recordings as far as I can see. It's an interesting career spanning anthology of the both the band and its members. Will buy it on that basis!

This is a great primer - disc 1 is their first Best Of in chronological order, and disc 3 is a shortened version of Strawberry Bubblegum (it's missing 'Susan's Tuba' by Freddie & The Dreamers, and 'Come On Plane' by Silver Fleet at first glance, which is the best song on there!). After criticism of the last group/solo best of being weight towards Gouldman, it's interesting to see Godley is the most represented on the solo disc.

Also glad to see Ramases get some love on the final disc. This looks like a good set!

It does have the single remix of McCartney's "Pretty Little Head" - first time on CD, so I imagine some folks will pick it up just for that. It's on the 2CD version as well as the 4CD, so that should make the decision easier for those who aren't interested in the whole box. Good price on HMV for the 2CD right now.

  11. If it has Eric Stewart's solo albums not on CD, I would pick it up. I've got all of Graham's solo albums, all Godley & Creme, Strawberry Bubblegum.

Lucky!!! I only found 10cc in my life shortly before it went OOP and therefore out of my price range.

  13. There
isn't much in the box that isn't available elsewhere--some of it very well mastered (the Hoffman two on one CD among others) and the earlier pressings can be found relatively cheap.

This really does look interesting, and I'll probably get it since I don't have Strawberry Bubblegum. To me it's worth the price of admission just for disc three and Eric's "The Ritual". Wonder if it'll be released over here in the states...

No Frabjoy & RS, Mockingbirds, Whirlwinds, Yellow Bellow Room Boom, Fighter Squadron... in fact, so much more COULD have been included, perhaps of more significance that some which is there. I know you can't please everyone but, as with the Tenology box, it just seems like there could have had a bit more thought put into it...
    Disappointing...

This looks great, but I also wish they would just release "Girls" and "Frooty Rooties" by themselves on CD.

    Lost opportunity!
What we need is a proper remastering of the first four albums!

  23. Indeed, why not release both as a couple disc set with outtakes, etc for those two solo albums? This piecemeal approach just doesn't make sense.

  24. Wonder what the source is for the Strawberry Bubblegum tracks included here? I have virtually everything here.

    Hi Wayne,

    Thanks for your interest.

We were unable to get a licence to release Frooty Rooties as a whole album. The tracks you see on the anthology represent the best deal we could get. At least most of Frooty Rooties is included. Eric didn't actually want any more tracks from Girls on the anthology as he felt they didn't merit it.

    With best wishes,
    Gilly
