  2. Right—bass was cut (and sometimes summed to mono) during the original mastering in the 1960’s and 1970 to prevent the needle from jumping the grooves. More bottom end extension is not the same as remixing the material to make the bass guitar (and only when Paul is playing it, as opposed to when George or John is playing it) more prominent.

Agreed, and I didn't mean to imply it was a remix - it definitely isn't. Just kind of bemused by the whole notion that all!

I believe this is the listing of the singles vinyl box (not much info at this point, but some hint what to be expected pricewise):

According to discogs, the original "Real Love" mix is made by Marc Mann: The Beatles - Real Love

about 250 US dollars a little pricey

These are the titles of the discs and I assume that's the A side also, what's the B side?

$250 is a lot of money. It would either have to be AAA or new remixes. If not, I’m out.

Nuts. I'd spring for a US singles set w/original pic sleeves in a heartbeat.
Why they never followed up the RSD 'Red' box is a head-scratcher.

    The listing is poor

    The listing has

    Disc 1 Love Me Do
Disc 2 PS I love You

that's the A side and B side respectively of their 1st UK single

Then the rest are the A side then the B side of the other 21 UK singles making 22 all up

the 23 rd - Free as a Bird / Real Love - is a hybrid

I paid less than that for the 2014 mono box. Go figure.

  18. I'm hoping that price reflects 'import' status and US MSRP will be a lot less. Insiders, what's the scoop on the price?

Marc Mann is like a latter-day "5th Beatle" type. He did editing on John's demos of Free as a Bird and Real Love and mixed those final Anthology recordings. He arranged the strings on George's Brainwashed. He played at Concert for George and played lead guitar alongside Prince on WMGGW when George was posthumously inducted into the R&R Hall of Fame, too.

That’s a great deal. I think I paid $350 from a local NYC shop at the time. Nothing will surpass that mono box, for me at least, unless the Beatles put out an all AAA stereo box in the same fashion, with flip back jackets, etc.

So that listing is actually for 23 7-inch singles, right? It's just a weird listing that says 46?

Free as a Bird/Real Love on the same 7-inch is not a move I would have anticipated!

If FAAB/RL are apparently the original mixes then I would assume the other tracks are the original mixes too. From the 2009 remaster.

In the States, I'm wondering what the cost would be? Maybe around $160? That would be about $7 per 45.

They gotta keep it under $200...I would think...But could be very wrong about that ha.
