Prince became a rather devout Jehovah's Witness in his later years, and many of the songs from Purple Rain didn't jive well with his new outlook. Take Me With You is a rather innocent pop song, and so he kept singing it.

Who Are You isn't a 5 star but, I can see why someone considers Numbers a 5 star. It's my second favorite Who album and the one I play the most.

Five stars all the way. Perfect from beginning to end, and timeless.

Seal and Trevor Horn were magic together in the '90s.

Gonna argue anyway. "Objective" means the exact opposite of what you think it means. What you're describing is "subjective."

You should have just left it out.

It wasn't all Dirty Mind before the conversion.....plenty of "innocence" to choose from, including the majority of the tracks on Purple Rain.
I saw him in concert near the time of his conversion.....he did Darling Nikki......and let the audience sing the naughty parts.

Lots of 5 star albums in this thread. If I had to pick five I consider meeting the rating without hesitation it would be the following:

Sly & The Family Stone- THERE'S A RIOT GOIN' ON
    My Bloody Valentine- LOVELESS
    Miles Davis-MILES SMILES
    Joni Mitchell- HEJIRA
    The Beastie Boys- PAUL'S BOUTIQUE

My only regret is leaving so many off.

Your choices were almost credible to me, until I scrolled down to Incantations. Amarok is debatable but I can let that one slide... Incantations is just tedious, to try and describe it kindly.

OH MAN!!! You got this one right! Although, for my own list, I’d also include Five Miles Out, Crises, and Discovery.

Congrats, your multiple choice posting is the only one so far in this thread I have no qualms with.

There are other choices given throughout that I agree with one or a few on the list, but then albums I totally can't stand will be thrown in among the great choices. It's all down to taste obviously, but it's curious what causes two people to be equally attracted to some common music taste themes, while being equally repelled by other music tastes of that same person.

Some of the others I agree with so far include:
    Are You Experienced
    James Gang Rides Again
    Who's Next
    Nevermind
    and a few others

what I would include in addition from my list
    Sugar - Copper Blue

Not really. I like Mystery Tour more than most Beatles albums I listed, but I don't think it's a 5 star album. Same with Saucerful of Secrets. Also I'm missing all Cream and too much Doors, and they're my fourh and third favourite bands respectively.

    Except it's not your opinion, it's their's.

Wrong. Objectivety can be based on different things. Instrumentation, melody, whatever. Some may feel instrumentation isn't something that needs to be taken into account objectively, some may. I added it so people won't argue as to whether something needs to be objectively considered or not.

Also, objectivety, despite being based on fact, is still a subjective thing to some extent. Everyone sees things differently, even things that are undeniably true and based on pure fact. That's just the way people are.
