I just picked up a high pile Persian rug for my main listening space. I know there are acoustic advantages to having the rug versus the bare hardwood maple it covers, but there’s also something quite cozy and relaxing having the colourful rug in the foreground.

It is looser in, er, one town famous for surfing, in the south of Kyushu.

I had a lava lamp explode, and all that goo got into the piles of a wool oriental rug. FYI, I was able to get pretty much all of the stains out with acetone. I don't remember how I accomplished that, but I did.

For deep listening, I go for sensory deprivation - no lights, everything I can shut off on the components darkened ( ie: meters, displays, etc.). Helps me focus exclusively on the music and the presentation in terms of soundstage, etc.
Can't remember the last time I pulled a CD booklet out of a jewel case - it really does become "all about the music"....

    Me either.
I do give my record jackets a good look over for most albums. Those are quality "booklets" loaded with art and info that's fun to behold. Still hard to see in the dark, though.
Ever get an LP that comes with a cd booklet thrown in the jacket? That is some lumpy gravy.

I like the 12", usually four-page, sometimes 8, foldout sheets that sometimes come with LPs. An accoutrement that adds to the relaxed mood now and again.

I’m with many posters above, I really like nice lighting. I put in a Hue system just for the listening room.

I have one preset for tube amps - sort of reddish

I have one preset for my McIntosh solid state system - bluish/greenish

Need a new lava lamp or two though.

Home listening room lighting seems to be a great creative way to enhance the musical experience. I think I’ll investigate it on a much deeper level.

I like to think I split my concentration sometimes focusing on the music sometimes what I'm reading but it works for me.

Ditto. I get particularly impressed whenever the music commands my focus and actually stops me and causes me to take notice. Audio is amazing.

Tonight the relaxation aid is an unexpected surprise, I found an unopened Paradise Circus from many, many months ago... fruity goodness with a couch lock, but mixes well with jazz.... :)

Fantastic. I’ve got to do more with my space as far as visual mood inducing aids go. :righton: To the inventor of the Lava lamp.
