The Jackson is a sleeper. The SACD gives the bonus of the other recording session he did for Blue Note but which was never released until decades later. He's a very expressive player.

Edit to add that Jackson also plays on the front line along with Harold Vick on John Patton's Along Came John which was also part of this sale. You'll also hear him on Baby Face Willette's Face to Face. The only other album I have him on is Bobby Hutcherson's Head On where he plays piccolo flute(!).

 

Got some more of the sale items yesterday. My copy of Hub Cap came not numbered, but also both records were warped (not horrible, but enough) and side four had visible scratches on it that caused multiple pops. Was able to still listen to some of it and the sound quality on this one is excellent. Looking forward to getting good copies.

Just got off the phone with AS, took a couple minutes and replacement records are being sent back out to me this week, awesome customer service once again from them!

Can't imagine Hub Cap will stay on sale much longer...So glad I listened to those that got it.

Looks like it's officially over. Got in one last order before the sale ended. Scooped up Hub-cap and Davis Cup on vinyl, and Peckin' Time, Hootin' and Tootin' and Flight To Jordan on SACD. Really satisfied with the products I grabbed previously, especially Dippin' at 45rpm and Hub-Tones, Workout and Minton's vol. 1 on SACD. Fab sale, hope they do it again!

I want two SACD's: The James Gang best (last time I looked it fell under the Exempt catagory) & the disappearing Hendrix AYE. Since my Oppo croaked last night & my other SACD player is mediocre, no hurry unless it's a blow out or extremely limited.

 

Yeah, I don't want much right now either. Gonna wait for the next sale, but wanted to alert others.

Just ordered Blue Train. Came to about $63 with the 15% off. Looks like there is limited stock, so who knows how many they have. Was thinking about picking up others but I need to hold back. Who knows where this economy is going...
