Incredible choices! So many of these are favorites of mine as well. Reading through this could almost be a list of my own collection, at least when it comes to the men. I was really glad to see some love for Leonard's Ten New Songs--a beautiful and very overlooked record. It's like comfort food just reading this list. :righton:

I love music very much and have a lot of favorites, but I would use 'obsession' perhaps to explain how I feel about certain periods in various artists' collections, when I think they were doing really special work:

The Rolling Stones: 1968-1973 (Beggars Banquet through Goats Head Soup)
Joni Mitchell: 1971-1977 (Blue through Don Juan's Reckless Daughter)
Tori Amos: 1992-2002 (Little Earthquakes through Scarlet's Walk)
Bob Dylan: 1965-1976 (Bringing It All Back Home through Desire)
Bob Dylan: 1997-present (Time Out of Mine to present day)
Bruce Springsteen: 1973-1984 (Greetings through Born in the USA)
Genesis: 1971-1976 (Nursery Cryme through W&W)
The Doors: 1967-1971 (while Jim was alive)
    CCR: 1968-1972 (career)
    Leonard Cohen: 1967-1971 (Songs trilogy)
Leonard Cohen: 2001-2016 (Ten New Songs through You Want It Darker)
    Grateful Dead: 1970
    Neil Young: 1970s catalog
The Band: 1968-1977 (original lineup years)
Van Morrison: 1968-1970 (Astral Weeks through His Band & Street Choir)
Tom Petty: 1979-1982 (Jimmy Iovine records)
Tom Petty: 1994-1999 (Rick Rubin records)
    Bjork: 1993-2001 (Debut through Vespertine)
Kate Bush: 1978-1989 (The Kick Inside through The Sensual World)
PJ Harvey: 1992-2000 (Dry through Stories from the City)
Fiona Apple: 1996-present (all 4 records)
    The Sundays: 1990-1997 (whole career)

I've got to ask -- what was it about 1970 Dead that most captured your interest? I only ask as a person obsessed with the 1965-1994 period. ;)

I just love the songwriting on Workingman's Dead and American Beauty so much, with those beautiful arrangements. I really love 'Americana' side of the Dead. I really tried to fall in love with their live stuff and their more psychedelic stuff (and there is some great stuff there) but it is that pair of 1970 records that really speak to me. The kind of music that can wash you clean.

That is so cool! It never occurred to me to start collecting multiple copies of the album. As for me, I've got a coffee mug, a bomber jacket (!) and several of the related singles/picture sleeves. I even have a GITM bumper sticker buried somewhere, but I couldn't find it for this pic:
