1.Pere Ubu / Story Of My Life One of my preferred Ubu recordings & I was hoping it would be included in the Fontana years box set, unfortunately due to contract laws it might never see a record album release , F - - K! 2.David Thomas & two pale boys / Surfs Up...just one of many DT solo projects... FWIW I posted hear a few months back but didn't include David Thomas
Jai Paul's 2013 leaks. I'd like to have the original high quality files, non remastered, and without anything removed/added: this being the samples, etc.
Would love to see a vinyl release of Pat MacDonald's debut album "Pat MacDonald Sleeps with His Guitar". Pat MacDonald was the leader of the Madison/Wisconsin duo Timbuk 3, who released six albums between 1986 and 1995. After their breakup in 1995, Pat MacDonald went solo and released his debut album "Sleeps with His Guitar" on Ark 21 Records in 1997.
My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult: 13 Above the Night. I can’t believe this was never pressed to vinyl.
Suzy Bogguss's first 8 albums - Somewhere Between / Moment Of Truth / Aces / Voices In The Wind / Something Up My Sleeve / Simpatico / Give Me Some Wheels / Greatest Hits. Her voice on these albums was spectacular!!! The instrumental accompaniment was top notch!!! A "Vinyl Must-Have"!!! Here's a sample:
back to this post 7+ years later, and these have made it: Bash and Pop - Friday Night Is Killing Me The Cardigans - Super Extra Gravity Cinerama - Torino Cotton Mather - Kontiki/etc (Stephen) Duffy - I Love My Friends Trashcan Sinatras - Weightlifting The Wedding Present - Take Fountain I guess that's not too bad overall...
I'll preface my list by stating that some of the titles that I'm including here are there more for the fact that releasing them would allow for one to have the artist's complete discography on the vinyl format. I'm limiting this particular list to studio albums (for the most part) for the sake of brevity. The Beach Boys – Stars And Stripes Vol.1 Jimmy Buffett – Fruitcakes Jimmy Buffett – Barometer Soup Jimmy Buffett – Banana Wind Jimmy Buffett – Christmas Island Jimmy Buffett – Don’t Stop The Carnival Jimmy Buffett – Beach House On The Moon Jimmy Buffett – Far Side of the World Jimmy Buffett – Buffet Hotel Brian Wilson – Imagination Brian Wilson – In The Key of Disney Bruce Springsteen – Tracks (box set) Billy Joel – Fantasies and Delusions Randy Newman – Bad Love John Lennon – Anthology (box set) John Lennon & Yoko Ono – Double Fantasy Stripped Down Van Morrison – The Philosopher’s Stone Van Morrison – What's Wrong With This Picture? Van Morrison – Born To Sing, No Plan B Paul McCartney – Ecce Cor Meum Ringo Starr – Vertical Man Ringo Starr – Ringo Rama Ringo Starr – Choose Love Ringo Starr – Liverpool 8 John Powell – Solo: A Star Wars Story Original Motion Picture Soundtrack
The Cure - Lost Wishes, Five Swing Live, Bestival, From There To Here, Anniversary. Depeche Mode - each of their last four live releases (Milan 2006, Barcelona 2009, Berlin 2013, Berlin 2018) have only been on CD The The - Film Music
Yes it would be good to have those 4 Depeche releases on vinyl with a full version of the Devotional tour which was only released on DVD (full show) and a single CD/Record of just live versions of songs of the latest studio album “Songs Of Faith And Devotion” as “Songs Of Faith And Devotion Live” That vinyl is very hard to get (although outside scope of thread as has been released, although not the full show). Also I’d like “One Night In Paris” From the 2001 Exciter tour which has only seen a DVD release. A nice live box set please Depeche!
A Degree Of Murder 1967 Brian Jones Movie Soundtrack never released on any format save home DVD, video etc
How much of the 90s and later albums were digital recordings only available in redbook quality? Meaning a vinyl release will have no sound quality improvement?
Dave Matthews Band - Live In Central Park If for no other reason than the epic Cortez the Killer with Warren Haynes.
Is that true? They were were pretty popular. Still have purple wouldn't think it would be scarce. Great record
My current wish list (I probably forgot a few... Oh well) Alan Parsons - A Valid Path (2004) Annie Lennox - Bare (2003) Babble - The Stone (1993) Babble - Ether (1996) Darling Violetta - Bath Water Flowers (EP) (1997) Darling Violetta - The Kill You (EP) (1999) Darling Violetta - Parlour (2003) Eurythmics - Live 1983-1989 (1993) Fish - Sunsets On Empire (1997) Fish - Raingods With Zippos (1999) Fish - Fellini Days (2001) Fish - Field Of Crows (2003) Fish - 13th Star (2008) Garmarna - Vittrad (1994) Garmarna - Guds Spelemän (1996) Garmarna - Vedergällningen (1999) Garmarna - Hildegard Von Bingen (2001) Mike Oldfield - Tubular Bells 2003 (2003) Miranda Sex Garden - Carnival Of Souls (2000) Roland Orzabal - Tomcats Screaming Outside (2000) Sam Brown - 43 Minutes (1992) Sam Brown - Box (1997) Sam Brown - ReBoot (2001) Sam Brown - Of The Moment (2007) Tears For Fears - Raoul And The Kings Of Spain (1995) Tears For Fears - Everybody Loves A Happy Ending (2004) As far as I'm aware, none of these have been out on vinyl before.
Speaking of compilations, which I’m a huge fan of, I’m thrilled to see that the Now series is being released on vinyl as well, at last! Both Yacht Rock volumes are on vinyl, and are great MOR type comps of 70’s-80’s hit singles.
There’s actually not too many - thankfully over the past ten years a lot of the big gaps have been filled. But a few remain, mostly from the heyday of alt-country: Old 97s - Fight Songs (and Satellite Rides) Son Volt - Wide Swing Tremelo Whiskeytown - Faithless Street Gram Parsons tribute album Would also love to see the first North Mississippi All-Stars album (Shake Hands With Shorty) issued on vinyl. Although that may be an uphill battle, that album didn’t exactly take the world by storm. Same with the first couple Tim Easton albums - I’m admittedly in the small cult of folks that loved those albums.
some 90s digital recordings were mastered loud/compressed, some were just flat sounding, it;s a mixed bag. A good remaster for vinyl could still improve the sound quality even if the source is 16/44. But as I said originally, sound quality is not the only consideration. Also just purely collector-ish reasons to do it...
And I've heard at least one vinyl advocate raise the point: who's got a better DAC, you or the Vinyl Mastering Engineer?
