Jeopardy is coming on now in New York City. Gonna be strange watching Alex tonight, but at least he gave us a few more weeks of shows before he wasn't able to tape any further.

RIP Alex.

If you're a game show host, is it not your ambition to be "elevated" to arguably one of the most popular game shows of our time? I can imagine anyone whose past experience - or current experience - of hosting a game show would be interested in throwing their hat in that particular ring.

 

Tonight's Jeopardy started with a brief on-camera tribute from the show's producer Mike Richards about Alex.
He said that Alex "taped his final episodes less than two weeks ago", and that "we will air his final 35 episodes as they were shot - that's what he wanted."
On tonight's show Alex began by saying "we're still in COVID-19 protective mode ... we want to keep everyone safe ... "

I was just thinking the same thing!

 

Not the same thing exactly, but when Conan O'Brian took over the "Late Night" spot held by David Letterman, Conan was pretty dreadful, I thought he was very stiff and uncomfortable in those early episodes-I thought he should have packed it up and went back to "The Simpsons"...

But, as time went on, and he got more shows under his belt, Conan got better and even got to the point of having screen presence... Ken would probably be the same-Just needing time to get into his own groove...

No matter who they pick to replace Alex, they're going to have big shoes to fill and fairly or unfairly, people will be comparing everything the new host does to Trebek.

 

Just say No to Ryan Seacrest hosting Jeopardy...

 

I agree. My post was meant to be facetious, since there seems to be no end to what that guy will stick his face into. Two other "experienced" fortune-seekers are Michael Strahan and Steve Harvey. I wouldn't be surprised to see their names in the mix.

 

I'd be surprised if it's not Jennings.

 

Buzzr and Game Show Network are doing tributes to Alex Trebek on Saturday.

 

Whoever they pick no steve harvey or drew carey, wayne brady or any comedian please..

Same thing w/Drew on TPIR-- in the early years, the producers, et al. acted like Drew was Bob, and tried to force him into Bob's mold (giving him the same star wipe that Bob had, and having him be "the star of The Price Is Right" like Bob was). However, this didn't really work for the kind of personality Drew was, so in 2009, Drew said (IIRC) that he'd much rather be the host and share the spotlight; from there, the show under Drew improved immensely, and now, Drew is in his 13th year (also IIRC).
