    All of those are superb.

Their work on the Tim Buckley catalog is particularly notable. The list could go on forever.

The older Otis cds are indeed great.

The later issued Deluxe Edition of Otis Blue not so much.

  11. Clearly you don't like their mastering style.

Bill is a top notch guy, and his masterings on the majority of those 80s and 90s Rhino CDs sound great. The British Invasion series, the Billboard comps, and most anything else in between.

Unfortunately, a lot of the late 90s stuff with Dan Hersch is pretty damn compressed and bright. The "Ultimate Yardbirds" comp is very hard on the ears, as are the first 2 Nuggets boxes.

I could not disagree more. Shaved bass and poppy treble? Not once have I heard that.

I have a few releases. Lack of bass and poppy treble is correct!

The original issue of Echo and the Bunnymen's "Ocean Rain' sounds far better (with fuller midrange and bass) than the 2003 remaster (Bill Inglot).

    Admittedly, I shouldn't judge Inglot's ear by a single flub-up.

I don't have my collection listed by mastering engineer :D but I'll tell one that springs to mind.

The Monkees Anthology, fat boy case, two CDs released back in 1998. It's such a great compilation of songs! They even had The Monkees to assist in the project!

Any recommendations for releases that sound great?

I have his. Love, love, love the music. Amazing stuff. If someone claimed that this is the best era for popular music, I'd have to agree!

Yes see YES CTTE 2003 remaster. Wow the title track is so thin sounding compared to Barry or Gastwirts versions.
