Man I was going to say the same thing. People always say he was never good live. He was! And I was at that TOP show at Rosemont Horizon. My first concert ever. Where can I get the soundboard recording?
You remember Vince riding the stairs down at the start ? Thought that looked so cool . . . got the tapes years ago when I was still a teenager at a "record convention" in Hillside . I still have both and they played great last time I listened to them . I should have them copied , don't have anything to listen to cassettes anymore 'cept the old boombox .
Ha magical memories.. I remember ‘in the beginning’ and the intro .. but I don’t remember him sliding down the stairs. I just found this!...
Does anyone know for certain who is actually doing the narration of In The Beginning? I know in the SATD liner notes it says "Narration: Nikki Sixx". But it sounds nothing like him. Further down the liner notes when it lists the names of the band members it lists "Alister Fiend" as the narrator (yes I know that is their cartoon like mascot).....but can can anyone confirm who is actually reciting the spoken word of In The Beginning (which I will go on record and say it is one of THEEE best album intros ever)
It was voiced by engineer/producer Geoff Workman (rip). " one of THEEE best album intros ever" Yep I agree man.
MC needed DL badly for stadiums....me thinks DL had bargaining power to do 50% headliner or tell the Crue sorry man. Vince will end up in one of those Key West concerts of a few days of 5 on a bill or the C-list casinos and big bars.
Yep - I am sure someone has an excel spreadsheet which shows how everyone wins if they can collectively fill a stadium. You basically get both your sets of fans in [assuming not 100% overlap], and you share the overhead. Once those numbers are understood, why would a bunch of 60 year olds, doing this for financial return (and why not, but let's not kid ourselves), feel too proud to NOT run with something as equitable as 50% headlining with a band that is at least as "big", and certainly was bigger back in the 80s.
Ahhhhhh yes.....thanks for reminding me. Now that you mention Workman's name it's all sounding familiar.
Never seen Vince solo. Who would want to? I've seen MC on every tour since '84, his vocals get worse every year.
My brother (who is a drummer) really rates Vince's drummer. Apparently he's also in Slaughter and is very entertaining.
His album from 2010 (Tattoos & Tequila) is quite fun, it has a very solid take on Scorpions song "Another Piece of Meat" and Elton's "Bitch is Back" have a listen on it via streaming
Hard to believe this will be 14 in June. I really liked this album a lot. The title track is such a catchy tune. The last time I saw them opening for KISS Sept., 2012. Hard to believe that was 10 years ago. The only song I remember they played from this was SOLA. My brother has tickets for this show/tour.......cancelled as many times as it has been.
I have a question regarding the promotion of the Decade Of Decadence compilation. There were 3 music videos made, 1st Primal Scream, then the Anarchy In The UK and Home Sweet Home 91 videos. There were 3? vinyl-cd-cassette singles : Primal Scream with Dancing On Glass, Red Hot Live and DR. Feelgood Live. Home Sweet Home 91 with You're All I Need, Without You and the original Home Sweet Home. It seems there was an Angela single with Home Sweet Home in Japan but was there one for the US? Now as far as radio, the Home Sweet Home 91 remix was a nice hit for the band. Primal Scream did actually quite good for such a heavy track. Now I see that Anarchy In The UK did indeed chart on the US mainstream chart. For those that were there at the time in the US in particular do you recall hearing all those songs on the radio? And did you ever hear Angela on radio? Some places it says it was release on radio but it's not really clear. What about in Canada?
I don't recall hearing any of those 3 on rock radio here in Detroit. That said, I didn't have MTV at the time but remember seeing the "Primal Scream" video at a friend's house once or twice.
Here in Dallas/Fort Worth we didn't really have a local radio station that played hard rock at the time. We had the syndicated station "Z-Rock" though. About a year after DOD one of our local pop stations switched formats to mainstream rock (97.1 KEGL). So, I heard all the DOD tracks on the radio, but that was courtesy of Z-Rock who played nothing but Metal and Hard Rock. Primal and Anarchy were both played quite a bit on MTV.
just saw on Poison's facebook, they will be playing on Aug 20th this year with Tom Keifer and L.A.Guns which is a day between shows for the tour
