I know this has been discussed in various threads but I'm hoping to compile the definitive list here from all our resident experts. I'm big fan of this album (it's one of the most played album on my ipod since I got it first in 2007) and always wonder while I listen on songs - who's playing that lick, drum fill, etc.

    Here is the tracklist:

    I'd Have You Anytime
    My Sweet Lord
    Wah-Wah
Isn't It A Pity (Version One)
    What Is Life
    If Not For You
    Behind That Locked Door
    Let It Down
    Run Of The Mill
    Beware of Darkness
    Apple Scruffs
Ballad Of Sir Frankie Crisp (Let It Roll)
    Awaiting On You All
    All Things Must Pass

    I Dig Love
    Art Of Dying
Isn't It A Pity (Version Two)
    Hear Me Lord
    Out Of The Blue*
    It's Johnny's Birthday
    Plug Me In*
    I Remember Jeep*
    Thanks For The Pepperoni*

Appreciate everybody's input. I'll update this post with musician info as we proceed. Thanks!

Search engine here could help--it's worth noting that many years later, it was "remembered" that Phil Collins played congas on "The Art of Dying"(except of course that there are no audible congas on that song!)....

So who knows, really, if the original cover credits are correct.

Simon Leng's book While My Guitar Gently Weeps: The Music of George Harrison has song-by-song musician credits for George's entire solo career.

I do know the drummers were Alan White (Courtesy of The Plastic Ono Band at that time-he'd join Yes a few months later) and Ringo himself..as well as Jim Gordon before he'd join Eric for Derek & the Dominoes...that's all that I know.:shake:I wish I can help furthur!

"Wah Wah" sounded like Carl Radle and Jim Gordon to me rather than Klaus and Ringo, but I haven't listened to it a lot.

Hey, thanks for the heads-up on this book. I've been searching high and low for info on who played on George's solo material (especially for the LPs that do not list who plays on what song).

Can't believe I didn't know Clapton played on this album!

Looking at the list, the first thing that struck me is how many of the same people played at the Concert For George. For example:

    3. "Wah Wah":

Eric Clapton - Wah wah guitar
    Klaus Voormann - Bass
    Billy Preston - Keyboards
    Gary Wright - Keyboards
    Ringo Starr - Drums

I had read elsewhere that Gary Brooker played piano on "My Sweet Lord" and "Wah Wah". But obviously I wasn't there, so I have no idea who's right.

So, does Simon Leng's book cite his sources where he found the detailed information regarding who played on each song?

"General note regarding player annotations: No track-by-track details of who played on All Things Must Pass have ever been officially released. The annotations should be taken as largely accurate but by no means faultless. They are based on various interview sources, the recollections of some of the musicians involved, and obvious stylistic differences: i.e., Ringo Starr has a unique approach that is evidently distinct from Jim Gordon's. This, coupled with Klaus Voormann's assistance, means that the listings for the rhythm sections are 99% accurate. Also, both Klaus Voormann and John Barham have identified Gary Wright and Bobby Whitlock as the core keyboard players on the sessions; therefore, the annotations for keyboards are based on that assumption. However, ultimately they are more indicative than authoritative. The author would welcome definitive information or additions."

There you go. That's not good enough for me. I don't think that we will ever know exactly who played what on ATMP. The information in the Leng book is nice to have, however.

I'm curious. I should know this but I don't. Outside of the obvious 'recent' additions of the last three musicians to My Sweet Lord 2000, how did the track list drop Billy Preston and add Bobby Whitlock? Were they both on the original track?

If you want to do a search through this thread from last year, Bobby Whitlock himself answered a number of questions about recording "All Things Must Pass"....and this is just part two. :D He posts as 'happytobealive"

    Not really accurate.
Peter Frampton says he played acoustic guitar on most of those songs but is not credited here.

Has anyone other than Peter Frampton credited Peter Frampton with playing acoustic guitar on most of the album?

I could swear that Ringo plays drums on "What is Life" and "Let it Roll." To my ears, it is HE and ONLY he.

    But I may be wrong.
