anyone know, or have any idea, why this album has never made it to CD?

released in 77 (after the brothers 'win lose or draw") only one song from the album was put on the allman brothers box set.

they (gregg and cher) were, if i recall correctly, a pretty hot item at the time.

is cher stopping this, i originally thought that gregg did not want this out, but now than gregg is gone, i figure it must be her.

From my memory most ABB fans like myself just ignored that album. The whole Cher
thing is kind of a sore subject I guess. I've never heard the album. Now I'm curious as
    to what it sounds like.

Disco, not surprising. Thanks for this. I'll listen to some more of it, maybe.

According to Billboard, Cher has ownership of the album's master tapes and Warner would be unable to reissue it without her consent or participation.

Honestly, this album is what the phrase "completists only" was coined for.

I'm wondering why it made it to vinyl.

I happen to like a few of the song on it.
"Move Me" & "In For The Night"
The latter was written & recorded by the Sanford Townsend Band:

We all wondered that in 1977.

This album was available dirt cheap as a cutout for a long time afterward.

Tragic. I saw Gregg and the ABB in 1979 (Providence Civic Center, Pure Prairie League opening) and he was a mess. Women are evil.

As a Cher fan, I really liked this. I really didn't care what the ABB fans thought about it. Though I was disappointed it didn't include the version of "Whipping Post" that I recall had been mentioned in the music mags of the day (Circus, Rolling Stone, Cream, etc).

I especially liked Cher's solo on the Chunky, Novi and Ernie (aka, Lauren Wood) tune, "Island"...

Wasn't this something like a seven day marriage? How did they fit an album into a drive by marriage?

Done right this could have actually been pretty great.
    It wasn’t and it wasn’t.

Imagine Cher’s “3416 Jackson Highway” Muscle Shoals LP crossed with Gregg’s “Laid Back”.
    Big missed opportunity.

Yes, it's awful! A critical and commercial failure!

There was a world tour, too, though I think it was cut short.

I wasn’t around at the time, but his relationship with Cher - then very much a mainstream celebrity - seemed to damage the ABB’s “cred” with their fan base. Cher has a similar effect on Kiss when she moved on to Gene Simmons. Hardly her fault, of course.

"Was"? :biglaugh:I see this thing quite often. Say what you will but that artwork stands out!

The tour ended with five dates in Germany in November and December. Wonder what those posters look like???

God, I love the internet! A whole site dedicated to the Berlin show!! Complete with photos of memorabilia!!! Sorry that it's in German but it's marvelous such a thing exists at all! :bdance:

    28. November 1977 Cher und Gregg Allman – Rockinberlin

So apparently the first few rows were taken by travesty artists from legendary - now defunct - Chez Nous cabaret. Which obviously were there because of Cher. Donovan was spottet in the audience who headed over from Deutschlandhalle after finishing his support slot for Yes.

I think I might actually have this album on vinyl. It's horrible! Hopefully it'll never see the light of day on CD or any other format.

By 1977 most soul wasn't done right. Disco was king & the Muscle Shoals sound was considered (sacrilege i know) old, out of date & past it.
Gregg singing soul with the muscle shoals sound accompanied by a great female soul singer would have been a great thing. (Wouldn't have sold of course)
