Totally looks like something Bell would have released in Japan in the early 70's!!!
    Love the sepia tone!

Nice. I always wondered what a good extra track for Peter would be. Good thinking!

I'm really glad you all seem to like my alternate reality version of "The Monkees Present"! :)

The inner gatefold was finished last night, and then the whole thing was put together this evening. (I also tweaked a few things with the artwork that didn't seem to work (ie the black background in the Colgems' logo was removed, and the "COLGEMS STEREO RECORDS" information box was moved towards the top (where Colgems actually had it placed.)

I hope you like the idea for the inner gatefold (although it might be a bit too "artsy fartsy".... ;) )

BTW, the whole thing can be seen in higher resolution here:

Oh, man- I can see Colgems doing something like this back in 1969- THAT IS EXCELLENT!!!
    I only wish :
    1. I could see that gatefold a bit clearer
    2. That I had these albums in my collection :agree:

    Thanks, Bob!

If anyone here knows how to increase the resolution size, please let me know. I've seen some posts with large-sized artwork, but my account seems to be limiting me.

BTW, apart from tweaking the contrast, the inner gatefold picture was totally un-photoshopped. The picture, poster piece, peanut shells, popcorn, and pigeons were all really there.

The park where I shot it is near my house and the pigeons must have a great sense of smell because none were around when I got there. As soon as I spread some of the popcorn on the ground, they started to appear.

At first, I was upset about the intrusion (the wind kept blowing the picture and poster piece away, so I was a bit cranky), but the little guys were cute and I ended up liking them in the shot better than the non-pigeon shots I also took.

Actually, I already posted the "Monkee Soul" cover a few pages up on this thread: http://www.stevehoffman.tv/forums/showthread.php?t=188735&page=5

There is another Beatle/Monkee mashup on page 6 as well....

Did anyone ever post the front cover to the "fantasy" 33 1/3 Revolutions Per Monkee?

Wow! Almost two months since anything was posted here...

Well, the "alternate reality" version of "The Monkees Present - Mike Nesmith's Neon Rodeo" is all done! (Finally!)

On page 4 of this thread, you can the early rough version.

I knew the sleeve just had to have Nez in his Nudie suit, and it needed to be in full color, as well as being full-boddy shot.

Recently, I was able to finally get a great picture that met all three criteria!

It wasn't the same Kool-Aid commercial picture that was being used as a place-keeper, but it still works just fine!

In this alternate reality, the Monkees didn't make a movie in 1968. Each member made his own solo LP.

Mike's album features all of his Nashville tracks, plus a couple of other countrified tunes to fill out the record.

So, here it is (hope you like it!):

The Monkees Present - Mike Nesmith's Neon Rodeo
    Side One
    1. Good Clean Fun
    2. Nine Times Blue
    3. St. Matthew
    4. Propinquity (I've Just Begun To Care)
    5. Some of Shelly's Blues
    6. Listen To The Band

    Side Two
    1. While I Cry
    2. Hollywood
    3. Don't Wait For Me
    4. How Insensitive
    5. Carlisle Wheeling
    6. The Crippled Lion
    Produced by Michael Nesmith

I find the Torkmented Genius tracklisting quite amusing now, since the new box set's going to have at least four different versions of Lady's Baby! You may not need those outfakes after all. XD
