I am at the point where I believe a hifi system can't sound appreciably better than mine. Call it optimized, the point of diminishing (or flat) return, a plateau, my hearing acuity limitations, the skill of my evaluating SQ, whatever. But I believe there is nothing I can do to make me enjoy reproduced music more. Trust me, I explore and ponder all kinds of scenarios: Separated More $$$ speakers Higher end turntable Room treatments But I can't convince myself it will make a difference. The second sub The AT33PTGii Were on my radar for a while, when the right deal popped up, I pounced. There is a slight downside, now I can't research and buy other stuff! Talk about a warped perspective. I'm sure I'll tweak and experiment but will make no big moves, I don't want to mess it up with too much fiddling. Learned a lot from the members of this joint which helped immensely in getting me to this point. Sorry for the personal diatribe. Oscar, Night Train
Definitely up there near the best of the best but there are places you can still take it and hear noticeable improvements. As long as you hear nothing that irritates you no need to look any further. Unless you went to an audio show....
You can put away all the measuring devices, gadgets, pens, papers, rulers, etc. and just enjoy the music. You have a very nice system - time to enjoy it!
those things helped get me here And been listening all that time And both are enjoyable I listen 1.5-2 hours a day usually I tweak a few hours a week unless I am trying to sort something out. But the ratio of listening/tweaking has been increasing. A good metric showing I'm close.
I'll cure you of your delusion. Come listen to my system. j/k....your system looks great and that it brings you joy is awesome.
I'm not so sure that will do it. I'm sure I would appreciate it, but the memory would fade when I dropped the needle on mine when I got home. Honestly, I'd be more interested in you than the system. I've driven 911 turbos, M6, etc. Always come back to a fast 4 door. Not because of $, but expectations, desires and satisfaction.
A couple of thoughts... How would you know if there can be any further improvements if you don't try? Kind of a Schrödinger's cat thing, eh? Your shelf gives me anxiety
1 managed expectations and appreciating what I have, their may be 'better', but not for me 2 lol, still at 0.0 deg, X/Y, not a mm shift.
Can I ask, what factor or combination of factors do you think finally pushed you into that zone? What was the last upgrade, treatment or tweak that really made the difference?
I used to track a M3 and a MINI John Cooper Works. I had a WRX STi, but never got it to the track. Now I drive an Outback to haul my bikes on road trips. If I didn't have my system I could have a Porsche 992 instead. I think the hifi system gives me more joy, and it will last longer and cost less in maintenance. That leaves money for my bicycles.
Honestly at this point I could have pretty much what I want (within reason of course). It's learning to not want that took time. Like this There are better looking dogs, smarter, better trained, purebreds, but I want MY dog. I don't care what the other guy has.
I''d swap the Harbeth SHL and RELs for Harbeth M40s. Far better tweeter and crossover and more coherent bass. Changes optional -- that's a great rig!
I have a stray-rescue rottie, Brahms. He's totally awesome, and loves listening to Brahms, and whatever else I play. Cost me $200 to adopt from a no-kill shelter. Has cost me thousands since. LOL
no one, a cumulative Getting the speakers located right A second sub really helped My new cartridge to a lesser degree
