I did write and below is the response. Interesting that they are saying it's technically difficult when every other on line retailer seems to have managed it so I presume just a nice fob off email!

"I'm Pranay from Amazon.com.au's Executive Customer Relations team. Jeff Bezos received your email, and I'm responding on his behalf.

I understand that you're not happy about the shipping restriction to Australia from other International stores. However, the technology is complex and takes time to build. Based on customer feedback, we focused on enabling exports from Amazon.com first.

With that said, we’ll keep working hard to make products from other international Amazon stores available as soon as we can.

    Thanks for your understanding, "

Yes, that’s the standard reply for now. Apparently one of the world’s richest companies finds it technically difficult to subtract 20% vat and add 10% gst but can do it for the various taxation schemes across the rest of the world, including all US states and cities. Thanks for writing and keep bothering Jeff on a regular basis. It’s the least we can do :)

    Here's the blurb, FW:

"Limited 180gm vinyl LP pressing Half-speed master. Japan's fourth and penultimate album, Gentlemen Take Polaroids was released in 1980. It was the group's first album for Virgin Records, after leaving the Hansa-Ariola label, and the last to feature guitarist Rob Dean. It features the single "Gentlemen Take Polaroids" and the atmospheric, Satie-esque "Nightporter", which was eventually released as a single in November 1982, shortly after the band announced they were to split. The album is widely considered as the one which consolidated Japan's unique aesthetic approach and sound. Mastered by Miles Showell at Abbey Road, each record was cut using a half-speed mastering technique; a specialist artisan process, which results in cuts that have a superior high frequency (treble) response and solid and stable stereo images. In short this produces a very high quality master, which in turn helps to create a very high quality record."

I think we're good to go!

Either way I’ll be happy but the picture is definitely of the single disc version as is the ASIN number.

    Interesting.

At this point, it might be best to assume it's not the half speed remaster that you'll be receiving because I don't trust Amazon descriptions.

Amazon Australia are notorious for their mix up in item description. This is definitely the single LP 33rpm version.
Easy to check by copying the item number and looking it up on other Amazon sites.
Or adding the keepa plug-in into your browser. Opens up a whole new world of spending money.
