I think Amazon.co.uk has recommenced shipping vinyl and cds to Australia. The shipping price is not as attractive as it once was and doesn’t seem to include all items yet, but if you click through it removes the vat, presumably adds 10% gst and away you go. Might be useful for those sweet preorder price mistakes many of us remember so fondly

 

Yes you're right! Although it seems it's a flat rate of £11.98 shipping for either one LP or a box set of LPs plus VAT removed. They don't appear to add GST.

I noticed that some third party sellers are charging between £2.50 and £4.99 to ship to Australia. But they don't remove the VAT (or add GST).

 

Not sure if everyone knows this but if you shop at wowHD choosing $A they offer free shipping to Australia. It's not especially more expensive and seems to offer similar stuff to ImportCDs and DeepDiscount. It might be the same company. I recently purchased the new Joni Mitchell Asylum box for A$162 (£95) when its £149 on Amazon UK. However that particular set is also nicely priced on Amazon AU too. But it's worth checking stuff to sniff out any bargains. The thrill of the hunt!!! Also sign up for the newsletter first, as you'll get a 10% discount code. I think you’re right and wow, Import and Deep might all be owned by the same group. I know I’ve come across it on a thread somewhere!

 

I mentioned it in the Amazon US thread a while ago. However, interestingly when they charge my credit card it says "Sunrise". Sunrise are a Canadian company, who bought out HMV UK a while ago. So to quote Bowie..... its confusing these days!

 

I always thought Wow WAS HMV which is why I’ve never ordered from them, because HMV always had very expensive shipping.

 

Here's one good example. Tangerine Dream compilation is A$25.78 on Amazon AU but is only A$16.41 on Wow. Amazon UK is more expensive.

Yep I agree. They use ePost Global (same as DeepDiscount/ImportCDs). My Joni Mitchell box just shipped yesterday. If it arrives in less than two weeks I'll be doing well!
