I use Amazon Marketplace quite a bit. It's a good way to get items (cds for me, mainly) at a great price, often for half or less than what Amazon themselves charge.
However, I am amazed at some of the prices charged, often in the hundreds and, many times, thousands of dollars. Do people actually pay these outrageous prices when another dealer is selling the same items for $10.00 or less? What is the point of these listings? They leave me confused and somewhat amused.

  2. Most of the time the prices are set by pricing bots that scan listings across the net for the same item. Sometimes it's simply a dealer setting prices in a hope of influencing other pricing bots.

And those items virtually never sell at those prices.
